From the town of Goshen to Mt. Kisco – Congressional District 19 – representing five counties North of New York City is the premier “suburb” of the “City.” Residents there are friendly, fervently patriotic and definitely displeased with the way the Obama Administration and its parroting Democrat -controlled Congress are governing domestic and foreign affairs.

It is the same rallying cry from across the Nation – the People are in an uproar – Washington D.C. continues to ignore calls for restraint and Americans are more than displeased actually, from New York to Arizona, they are FED UP with the constant big brother minded, overreaching, out of money government, that every day comes up with a new plan which is both detrimental to the financial well being of America, AND conflicts with the demands of the U.S. Constitution meant to protect Americans from tyrannical government. Points of reference:

* Forcing socialized medicine by using false representations and mobster-like maneuvers;
* Failing to lead in an environmental crisis (gushing oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico ) that has left Obama dumbfounded and wholly incompetent;
* Hording resources from the People based on hysterical and fraudulent “global warming” claims;
* Stealing money from the rich via taxes and regulation to redistribute wealth and weaken the economy;
* Borrowing money from Communist China to pay for socialist-style entitlement programs and spending bills;
* Meddling in Arizona State rights;
* Lambasting and undermining Israel our closest ally in the Middle East;
* Breaking deal with Poland (another ally) to strategically install missile defense shield;
* Attempts to limit speech by isolating and aggressively demoralizing detractors; and last but not least
* Using tax payer dollars to fund abortion at home and abroad.

DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN JOHN HALL SUPPORTS THE OBAMA AGENDA

John Hall called-in to the Michael Mazzariello radio show (WGNY in Newburgh) one day before a scheduled vote on the health care “reform” bill in March, and communicated that he would not vote against the People in the District, but would be voting for them. That same day a group of concerned citizens arrived at his office in Goshen to protest government takeover of healthcare.

Even though voters rejected the health care “reform” bill, Hall voted with the President not with the District. Either Hall thinks the People want socialized medicine and he is dead wrong or, he fully understands that the People do not want socialized medicine, but feels he knows better (truth is probably in the latter).

Vice President Joe Biden paid Hall a visit on June 1. LoHud.com reports, “Biden came to Bedford to praise Hall for supporting the administration’s major pieces of legislation.”

Making claims of responsible reform and creating jobs, Biden paints a picture of a recovering economy in his attempt to mask the underlying truth – the healthcare “reform” law will add billions of dollars in debt to an already indebted roll, and add millions of dollars in unfunded liability to the state of New York. For a Government that has tripled its debt in three years, it goes beyond the pale that it would keep spending money Americans cannot generate.

On June 6 in PostScript, New York Post writer Michael Tanner indicates the following:

$13,050,826,460,886.97 is the National Debt.

Actually, that’s just part of the debt we have dumped on future generations. That’s because most of what the government owes isn’t on the official books.

Social Security, for instance, faces unfunded liabilities of more than $15.8 sounds like a lot of money; it is dwarfed by Medicare’s looming budget shortfall of between $50 trillion and $100 trillion, depending on which accounting measure is used.

The Vice President did not travel to New York for nothing; Bedford is the hometown of Republican candidate Nan Hayworth, who is challenging Hall for the seat. The VP brings tidings because Democrats are worried that Hayworth, who is adamant in her opposition to big government spending, will win in November.

My choice for District 19

My original choice for Congress in a Republican primary was David McFadden. I liked David in the race because he outlined a good conservative, pro-life, pro-small business, pro-American, platform. I was encouraged knowing that a more conservative Republican candidate would motivate voters to go to the polls, a position I still hold.

Nan Hayworth, McFadden’s strongest opponent in the race for Party Designation, won the Republican vote by a super wide margin at 78.8%. McFadden coming in second place netted 16.5% and graciously (and as promised) dropped out of the race and afforded his supported proxies to Hayworth.

Indirect ties to abortion industry

Critical of Hayworth’s “pro-choice” stance, I initially expressed my distaste (at Political Blog and elsewhere) for Hayworth’s candidacy, and I also set forth a possible connection between an avid abortion lobby and Nan Hayworth, a candidate for U.S. Congress.

Dr. Scott Hayworth, Nan’s husband, is an OB/GYN Doctor who most likely performed abortions in the past and is Chair of the New York branch of the American Congress of Gynecologists and Obstetricians (ACOG), an organization that has set forth legislation that facilitates universal healthcare and non-restricted, global access to abortion. Dr. Hayworth has denied direct influence.

Nan Hayworth defends herself

Nan Hayworth explains that ACOG supports 41 Republican physicians running for office who are opposed to universal healthcare, and are both pro-life and pro-choice. “These members work closely together in deciding policy, and work as a group to change the mindset of the group at large – towards promoting a more innovative, market-driven, and expedient health care system,” Nan distinguishes herself as a “Repeal and Defeat Obamacare” Republican.

Hayworth expresses her personal opposition to partial birth abortion and tax payer funded abortions noting “not everyone at ACOG is supportive of its legislative goals.” Republican-minded physicians she says, “share common principles of free market and choice of physician’s conscience, not government controls and requirements.”

Vote for the Republican

What I would like to send in November is not just a message and hopefully a win for Republicans, but America needs a tidal wave of voters that says, “Enough is Enough!” Yes, Republicans are bad politicians too, no doubt, BUT it is the Democrats in charge who are actively supporting the nonsensical and dangerous actions of the Obama Whitehouse and who are beating the U.S. Constitution to death.

SUPPORTING NAN HAYWORTH FOR CONGRESS

It only takes a few moments to recognize that Nan Hayworth is a devoted wife and mother. She defends her “college sweetheart” husband with “Scott is a wonderful man who has delivered hundreds of babies,” with a sincerity that can only be true.

Nan Hayworth recognizes all of the points outlined above, and Hall is in support of all of the points outlined above. That is a clear and stark difference. Also assuring is Nan’s commitment to sit down with me to discuss important pro-life issues, while Hall wouldn’t give me the time of day.

District 19
: Put the brakes on Obama’s out of control Congress and the socialist-style government he pursues, let’s get to work electing Republican candidates to Congress.

Nan: I hope you win!

  1. Hi Raquel! I, too, was pulling hard for McFadden and was disappointed by the margin of his loss. I have tremendous respect for the class he showed in stepping aside and throwing his support behind the nominee (who in this case was chosen by the voters rather than shoved down their throats by a few power-mongers at a convention. I do see a distinction there).

    If I lived in the district I would do as you plan to do and pull the lever for Hayworth, although I would not campaign for her and would hold my nose HARD inside the voting booth. I do recognize that on many – OK, most – issues, she’s a huge improvement over Hall, which would win my vote at the end of the day.

    That said, I confess I’m obsessed with the holocaust that’s being perpetrated against the most helpless members of our society: the precious unborn. One million+ a year, sacrificed to “choice” – how sad. The vast majority of these babies are killed for simple convenience, rather than placed in loving adoptive homes (while millions of couples hope and pray for a child to adopt; I may be one of them once I find a husband!). If Hayworth herself has children, she should KNOW what a blessing they are. On the other side of that coin are women like me who have always wanted a family more than anything in this world, but have been deprived due to either infertility or (as in my case) romantic challenge. I’m not getting into a self-pitying thing here; I just understand personally what a precious gift and blessing children are, and it breaks my heart that any woman who is granted such a blessing would make the “choice” to dispose of it like a wart or tumor.

    I don’t expect to agree with anybody 100%; heck, if I think hard enough I could probably even come up with an issue or two on which I differed with the great Ronald Reagan. :-) In the voting booth I weigh many issues and take things on a case-by-case basis, but some issues naturally carry more weight than others. It bugs me when RINOS (and even some who are otherwise conservative) argue that the GOP should ditch the life issue and focus exclusively on economics. They have their priorities; I have mine. In my book saving lives (innocent lives, anyway) should take precedence over saving money. This covers not only protection of the unborn, elderly and medically vulnerable, but also matters of self defense and national security.

    Although I’m a fiscal conservative, I would probably support a pro-life spender (a la Bob Casey SENIOR) over a Rudy Giuliani. I understand that not everyone agrees, but Republicans who are marginalized (by the media and even some of our own) are generally those who put the life issue first, not those who put money matters first. No significant segments of our party are calling for the GOP to abandon the fiscal aspects of our platform (nor should they, though people can disagree personally), so I feel the need to make the case for voters like me for whom abortion is a tough matter to overlook.

    I realize I’ve gotten way off the topic of the specific candidate; it was unintentional, but thanks in advance for letting me vent! :-)

  3. Thanks! As you know, one of my biggest political pet peeves is Republicans who poo-poo pro-life concerns (not to mention the DEMS who lecture us on the benefits of doing so. Who appointed them advisors to the GOP?).

    It’s one thing if people don’t share my priorities, but another to put me down for having them.

  4. Hi Raquel.. Though I strongly want Hall out.. I cannot vote for Nan in all good conscience.. I strongly oppose to all her pro abortion connections.. Social issues should matter in this election.. I am still upset over the outcome of the convention.. I was there.. It was horrible.. It was politics in play.. One hand washes the other.. I was strongly supporting McFaggeb as you are well aware of.. I felt duped by him in that he was using us to split the conservative vote and give way for a Nan victory.. We are forgetting that there is another cabdidate in play and that is Neil DiCarlo.. He is a true conservative and speaks on the side of the people.. Nan is NOT for the people she is fr the establishment.. There are alot of us campaigning out there to get him on the ballot to primary.. I know you are saying he doesn’t have a chance.. I disagree.. He is an HONEST man and a man who is True to his convictions in workong for the PEOPLE.. Also a man of FAITH and that is something we need now the way this country is heading.. I fel Nan is “Hall in a Skirt” I DO NOT trust her and nelieve she will side with the regime for her own personal gain and special interests.. To beat this progressive agenda , you need the total opposite and that is CONSERVATIVE not a moderate.,. This is what is gestroying the party.. In New York they seem to feel you must be moderate to beat the DEmocrats.. UNTRUE..It is like taking an antibiotic that kills half the bacteria instead of killing the whole infection.. We need conservatibves in Congress to beat them both fiscally and socially.. Limke I said plenty of us will be and are working to get Neil on the Ballot so there WILL BE A PRIMARY come SEPTEMBER.. For the record I will write in Mickey Mouse before I vote for Nan.. (RINO)

  5. Hi Carol, thank you for your insightful comment!!

    I commend you for supporting Neil DiCarlo, he is an option for you and other Republicans who do not want to pull the lever for Nan Hayworth.

    I must add, however, DiCarlo will not survive past September 14 when Hayworth trouncing him in the Primary.

  6. No Raquel! Not after all of your research and email alerts about Nan and the abortion issue… oh wow! This decision of yours is so disheartening to say the least. You did show this on fb with your thumbs up for Nan after the convention. But when I asked you about it you told me that you didn’t support Nan. Honesty is my motto. I will stand on my principles and values. I’ve got to make an account one day. Onward I go for life….

    By Jennie on Jun 14, 2010

  7. Hi Jennie,

    Your comment is welcome!

    I hope you read the article to put my support for Nan Hayworth in context. It was me who had the courage to expose the abortion ties and confront Nan face to face. You also know that I worked tirelessly to get David McFadden support in the District, and now he is out of the race.

    I was not being dishonest when I told you that I was not supporting Nan at that point. It has been with much deliberation that I have come to the conclusion that John Hall is horrible as a Congressman and supporting Nan is the only way out.

    Hall has stabbed District 19 in the back by representing Obama’s interests, not the voters. If I can help take Hall out by supporting Hayworth, then so be it.

    I’m in this to make a difference, not to sit around and talk about it.

    My commitment to Life issues remains intact and the same, 100%, no apologies, no regrets, anyone who knows me well, knows that my convictions are honest and straightforward.

  8. Glad to be on the same side with you.

  9. Raquel:

    I know it is most difficult for those whose top priority is the “pro-life” issue to support a “pro-choice” Republican, but I do believe you have made the correct decision in this race. I am also supportive of those folks who want to bring this issue to the GOP rank and file via the primary route. Like yourself, I think the overwhelming majority of
    Republicans, AND “pro-life” Republicans too, however, will support Dr. Hayworth over Neil.

    The “pro-life folks” who can not bring themselves to vote for Hayworth in this race, are essentially making the decision to support a “pro-choice Democrat” that favors federal funding for abortions and who favors partial birth abortions over a “pro-choice Republican” who does not. In this particular race, these
    “non-voters” could be very well be putting the
    “pro partial birth abortion” and “pro federal
    funding of abortion” advocate back in the House of Representatives.

    You figure…..

    For the record, the 19th Congressional District does not represent ALL of the voters
    in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange counties but rather All of the voters in Putnam County, a majority of the voters in Orange County, and a minority of the
    voters in Rockland, Westchester, and Dutchess counties.

  11. I wish Republicans up in NY-19 the best with making a serious decision on who they want representing them in 2011. We will likely not get enough wins to take back the Senate and of course we do not have the presidency at least until 2013, so our best bet is to win as many House seats as possible. Of New York’s 29, we’ve held 9 at most and have potential of 11 (though we probably should call ourselves lucky if we can end up with 5 or 6 after this November.

    Remember, the 29 seats will likely shrink to 27 after the census as New Yorkers flee out of the state, due to liberals taxing the working class away. The larger the districts become the more liberal they are, which means fewer elected Republicans.

  12. Thanks Appalled – same here!

    Carl, I see you are reading my blog, I’m happy for you, I figured we would fall on the same side of a candidate sooner or later. Any interest in going to Greg Ball’s Tea Party in Patterson on the 24th?

  13. Raquel,
    I am surpised that you would support a pro-choice candidate.Nan admits that she is pro-choice. I am not in the 19th District but no matter what I could never support her if I were. She will run her campaign with “blood money” from the abortion industry.I would never trust her or her husband.

  14. Hi Ella Mae– Welcome to my blog!

    I appreciate your comment and understand it. My conclusion in this race does not come easily. This is the 11th article I have written on District 19, and I have been extremely critical of Hayworth.

    I have examined this race very closely and have met with every candidate. I do not besmirch anyone who comes to the same conclusion as you, as I have come to that conclusion on many occasions, in fact, I respect your position very much.

    I ask you, however, to see things for a moment from my perspective. I’m tired of no one listening to me, I am tired of standing on the sidelines and watching progressive Democrat after progressive Democrat get elected to office. I have an opportunity to make a real difference, because I know in my heart Nan will hear me out, whereas John Hall will not.

    I am prepared to teach the Republicans a lesson by not supporting their “pro-choice” candidate, but this year, as far as I’m concerned JOHN HALL deserves a lesson more. He cannot go around pretending to represent the District, and then follow along with every inept plan Obama has in store.

    Personally I like Nan very much, and I know she will work with me that’s why I am supporting her with no regrets. Nan is the only one who has a real chance to beat Hall, and that’s my objective.

    God Bless — come back anytime!

  15. Raquel,

    Like Appauled, it is great to be on the same side. I understand how some Pro Lifers may have difficult supporting Nan based on the abortion issue It really comes down to one thing though, not voting for Nan Hayworth is a vote for John Hall. We need to take back controll of this congress, and I hope that like Mcfadden and Raquel, we can all move forward to accomplish some great things this election year.

  16. You people MUST learn to mind your own business and keep your hands on your own bodies just like they taught you in kindergarten. Every woman must be allowed to decide for herself. Go back to your scrapbooking! You people are meddlesome lunatics.

  17. Raquel -

    What a powerfully written, real-world (i.e., complicated) support letter for Nan. As one of her long-standing supporters, “thanks” for the good words.
    .
    I wrote you before on the challenges of “getting to 51%” and that the Northeast that is basically, socially moderate and (thank goodness) fiscally conservative. Nan can win and Nan’s pledge to work to roll-back government spending on the healthcare take-over, and prevent the left’s mission to force taxpayers to pay for the procedures that the government believes are necessary, is perhaps the better of two imperfect choices for abortion opponents.
    .
    It’s tough to stand in the middle between such a polarizing issue, but at least we/you shouldn’t have to subsidize a procedure that you consider taking away a life.
