Obamacare Back From the Dead

I apologize for beating a dead horse, but the saga continues as the White House will do anything to get their beloved health care “reform” bill passed, and look as non-partisan as possible in the meantime. It doesn’t matter that the American people are in a literal revolt over the proposed bill, proceed the White House must!

The President purports to have a starting point for health care reform, one from which the Republicans can share their ideas, topics can be debated, concessions can be made, and American health care can be transformed. This is what occurred last year on the floors of Congress between the Democrats.

Democrats in power pushed their version of “reform” while Republican measures weren’t even debated let alone included in the bill – this is for one reason and one reason only — because the Democrats didn’t need the Republican vote to get the bill passed. They spent months debating each other for every single Democrat to agree and as you well know, bribed certain members to get enough Aye votes in the end (lucky for us it took them too long).

Everything changed when Scott Brown was elected to the Senate, now the Democrats still need every single Democrat to agree, plus one Republican — to pass the bill. So if the President and/or Democrats can offer that one special deal, that one concession to a maverick Republican, the deal is done. Plain and simple, this is what we are up against – politicians with complete disregard for the wishes of the American people.

This is when the President decides it’s ok to have a health care reform summit before live cameras mind you – an opportunity for Republicans to share their ideas, an olive branch so- to-speak. Most will agree this is nonsense, it’s all smoke and mirrors, the Democrats want their version of health care “reform” to pass, and pass it shall sooner or later (if we don’t stop them); they only need one Republican’s favor.

Eager deal makers are pursuing Republican members right now. All the Democrats have to do is pick-off one Republican whichever Republican that may be (be sure they are targeting many) and they can have their landmark socialized health care system in America, they believe, as easy as 1-2-3.

Now, if the Republicans hold firm, and the Democrats and White House fail to bribe a Republican to vote aye, they have the same back-up plan they had in mind last year which is to engage in the so-called nuclear option as a last resort. The nuclear option would permit the Senate to vote on a bill with a simple majority as opposed to a majority vote.

In this scenario, the Democrats would not need a single Republican to vote aye nor do they need every single Democrat, and the only reason they haven’t used this method already is because a simple majority is to be used for, by Senate rules, budgetary measures only.

If the Senate by-passes its own rules in order to get a partisan bill passed it will not look too favorable to the public – a no- no for politicians in an election year.

Many have set forth a good case why the current health care “reform” bill will raise health insurance rates, put more Washington bureaucrats in charge, cost too much money and lead to rationed health care and a decrease in medical innovation and funding. But Washington D.C. still isn’t listening.

The proposed health care summit is a waste of time, it’s a production– it’s not transparency – it’s a reality show with no substance and all drama.

On Thursday’s episode, the President will write the script, set the stage and direct the entire performance, all while accusing others of engaging in “political theatre” that’s what my Jewish friends call chutzpah!
