(Editor’s Note: I was supportive of Liz Berney in her campaign for Congress District 5 in 2008 and have been friends with Liz for a number of years. Admittedly, my avid endorsement for Liz Berney comes with prejudice.)

Republican Liz Berney, Esq., 2010 candidate for U.S. Congress (NY District 5) has done everything right to run a formidable campaign against Democrat Rep. Gary Ackerman’s sixteen-year incumbency. District 5 encompasses parts of two counties at lower New York State, from the town of Elmhurst at Queens County to the Town of Greenvale at the North Shore of Nassau County.

Even before Liz Berney ran for Congress in 2008, she was laying the groundwork for her campaign by working within the Republican and Libertarian parties and other organizations building a team of supporters who advocate fiscally sound principles in government and aggressive foreign policy measures to combat terrorism.

Liz Berney is a Republican committee woman at Great Neck and over the years has spent countless amount of time securing ballot access for Republican candidates and has provided pro-bono legal services to the GOP at both Nassau and Queens County.

It is Liz Berney’s tireless efforts in the Jewish community that poised her for a leadership role in the Republican Jewish Coalition and the endorsement of Republican Congressman Pete King (Nassau County District 3) who is well known for his continuing supportive voice of Israel, America’s ally, at a time when other officials are offensively defaming them.

Motivated by a family that was misplaced, tortured and killed during the Nazi occupation of Germany, Liz Berney (acutely aware of being part of a surviving generation) articulates her love of freedom and concern for a an overreaching government that works against American ideals of free market and free speech.

After escaping Nazi Germany my father joined the U.S. Army and fought in WWII. This example taught me that freedom needs protecting. Pursuing the American dream, my father would later become Dean of Queensborough Community College. This example taught me to aspire for excellence in an independent society.

Via heavy handed regulation and a progressive tax rate on American industry, the current administration however pushes forth an agenda that is antithetical to freedom. Policy decisions in Washington D.C. are injuring the economy and weakening individual choice. The time is now to be vigilant.

Liz Berney shows a certain level of expertise.

Liz Berney has written extensively on the issue of health care in her capacity as a candidate for public office and also as a practicing tax attorney. Liz Berney debated Ackerman on health care in 2008 and has hit the streets since at town hall meetings, gatherings and protests, all to warn the public of the dangerous policies embodied in the health care law.

In 2008, Newsday criticized Liz Berney for singling-out health care reform as a “government takeover of health care” that “can lead to a socialist system.” Liz Berney saw the writing on the wall back then and with growing opposition to the new Obamacare law, she has been a screaming voice today:

The new “health care” law has very little to do with actual health care. It is mainly another way of taxing and transferring wealth from individuals, employers, the insurance industry, the medical device industry and the pharmaceutical industry. The health care bill also contains new burdensome tax reporting requirements, and will require 14,000 new IRS agents to implement!

The new law (the so-called “Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act”) contains numerous new taxes …and mentions the words “tax” (including variants of “tax” such as “taxpayer”) 582 times. The reconciliation bill adds more than 100 additional mentions of “tax.”

Tea Party acting like political party bosses.

The Tea Party erupted early last year just in time to grab the attention of disgruntled Americans. Disgruntled by an America that is looking more like Hugo Chavez’ Venezuela than the land of opportunity, the Tea Party movement is determined to collectively frame a government that represents not controls them.

The problem in the race for Congress District 5 is that the Tea Party has denied Liz Berney access to its members, perhaps inadvertently, essentially denying its members to a credible and worthy candidate. Instead some are actively defaming Liz Berney and actively supporting their choice in candidates, Dr. James Milano, without further review.

It is the Tea Party acting like the Republican Party they complain about. Corrupt Republican party-bosses declare candidates credible and deny access to candidates they dislike, not Tea Party patriots. This type of hard ball is reminiscent of the press keeping favorable news about President Bush out of the media.

Tea Party candidate Dr. James Milano

During a forty minute phone interview with Dr. James Milano, he shows a real concern for the economic mess America is in, especially with respect to jobs, Dr. Milano expresses:

A 10% unemployment rate has people giving up on work prospects. The best way to create jobs is to create an atmosphere where people can succeed. The government is trying to tax their way out of a recession even though a more effective policy would be to cut taxes for companies that hire people.

Dr. James Milano’s pro-life stance is impressive, particularly as a physician, he articulates a good defense for unborn life. He is well versed on a varied amount of issues, intelligent, creative and personable. Dr. James Milano has a bright future in politics as long as he stays on message and continues to communicate his views with the public.

Liz Berney for Congress

My reasons for backing Berney are as follows:

Liz Berney is the only registered Republican; Liz Berney has paid her dues; Liz Berney has lived in the District for 32 years; Liz Berney is an expert on tax policy and health care issues; Liz Berney is the only candidate who has been engaging the voters on the issues for years.

I’m supporting Liz Berney because she earned it.

  1. Liz Berney’s lack-luster performance in 2008 with 28% of the vote, note even carrying the Republican base is troublesome. She initiates law suits against any organization that refuses to back her. She has initiated law suits against pro-life individuals when they will not change their minds. She advocates for ear marks and judges in part the success of a politician based upon how much of the US tax payer dollars they are able to garner for their district. She advocates for Abortion and blames a poor economy for increased numbers of Abortions. She would be a gift to Ackerman who humiliated her in 2008 by having Republican cross over.

By robert on Jul 13, 2010

  2. Basically irrelevant since it’s not my district, but is she pro-abortion? Although I have seen her at various RJC events and greatly appreciate her support for Israel, I couldn’t overlook that – especially if she’s being challenged by a strong pro-lifer.

By Paula on Jul 13, 2010

  3. I would not call Liz an advocate for abortion. Indeed, her and I are in disagreement over this issue, as I believe abortion is wrong and immoral and should be illegal, and Liz feels abortion should be available in unique circumstances. When I asked Liz what solutions she had in mind to reduce abortions these are her answers:

    (1) Adoptions should be encouraged.

    (2) We need to value and respect special needs children. My niece has Down Syndrome, and I cannot imagine our family without her. Women should be advised of the resources available for special needs children and the fact that many families are willing to adopt special needs children. (When my sister gave birth to my niece, we were surprised to learn that many families were interested in adopting her.) The criticism of Sarah Palin for having a Downs’ Syndrome child was appalling.

    (3) We need to reduce taxation and improve our economy. Studies show that one of the top reasons why women obtain abortions is the economic cost of raising a(nother) child. Improving economic conditions will reduce abortions.

    (4) We need to improve respect for women. Studies also show that one of the top reasons why women obtain abortions is that the relationship with the child’s father is problematic (often abusive and/or non-supportive).

    (5) Roe versus Wade should be interpreted to take into account current developments regarding viability, using the best information available from neonatologists.

    (6) Comprehensive education and the “free market of ideas” are critical to shaping attitudes about abortion.

  4. Only 2 Republican Congresspersons were elected in New York out of 29 in 2008 and they were incumbents. After them, Liz was the 3rd highest Republican showing in the state, in the “we love Obama” year. Her 45,000 votes, or 28% in a 3-way race during an Obama tsunami year in a district with much lower Republican registration (20%) was a great first performance. 2008 was also a year where only one Republican challenger for House of Representatives in the entire country won against an incumbent. Typically a challenger must run several times to win. Newt Gingrich had to run three times before he became a Congressman.

  5. Thank you for your endorsement, Raquel!

It’s sad to see anonymous bloggers such as “Robert” helping Ackerman by using this blog to malign me with complete falsehoods.

  6. As one of the organizers of the Nassau-Queens 9-12 Project, I feel compelled to respond to Ms. Berney’s untrue accusations against the “Tea Party.” First of all, we are only one of many successful so-called Tea Party organizations on Long Island and in Queens. Secondly, our group held a Town Hall style meeting, in which all of the candidates who wanted to run against Gary Ackerman, presented their positions at length. Our audience then was polled and Ms. Berney came in fourth out of six possibilities. In addition, I personally spent 6 months, along with a committee of other concerned citizens, meeting in my basement to interview and discuss the various candidates. At the conclusion of this process, we determined that Dr. James Milano was the preferred candidate to run in the 5th. Congressional District. Dr. Milano has received the endorsement of the Queens and Nassau County Conservative Parties as well as the endorsement of the Queens County Republican Party. Only in Nassau County, which only comprises 1/3 of the District, has the party boss, Joe Mondello, hand-picked Ms. Berney as his personal choice. Mr. Mondello has a vedetta against the present NYS Republican Chairman and will do anything he can to spite him. From what we hear, the Nassau Republican executive committee was not even allowed to vote at that meeting. Ms. Berney has an abrasive manner that has succeeded in turning off former supporters and friends. She did not do very well against Gary Ackerman in 2008 and cannot raise the money that is necessary to defeat this incumbent. She also begins nasty lawsuits against people when she does not get her way. She attempted to use our 9-12 website as a personal campaign website until we had to cut her off. Ms. Berney simply does not have the support to wage a successful campaign and is a spoiler in this race. She refuses to withdraw and is insisting on waging a costly and time-consuming primary that will dilute the opposition to Ackerman. Dr. Milano is definitely the candidate of choice in this race and has the best possible chance of defeating Gary Ackerman in 2010 and bringing sanity back to the 5th. Congressional District.

  7. Thank you Judy. Your perspective and input is Very Much appreciated.

  8. In 2008 I supported and worked for Liz Berney. This year I am strongly supporting Dr. James Milano in his run against far-left Gary Ackerman. The 5th CD is overwhelmingly Democratic, but this is a most unusual year–one strongly inclined to see incumbents defeated. Dr. Milano is an ER doctor at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, and this gives him a leg up in a year where Obamacare is correctly viewed as a threat to our economy and to our healthcare system. While both Liz Berney & Dr. Milano are far better than Ackerman on fiscal issues, Milano is far stronger on social issues and that is another plus in my view. It’s an uphill battle, but Dr. Milano is our best shot at dumping one of the worst big spenders in Congress.

By Frank J. Russo, Jr. on Jul 13, 2010

  9. Wow. It appears there are a number of people who choose their side and believe the best way to victory is to strong arm a candidate out of the race.

11th Commandment fellas. Let’s promote our preferred candidate and focus on Ackerman here.

We have a unique opportunity here to wake up the sleeping Republican base. Bring on the primary.

The most disenfranchised district voters here are Republicans in this district, because for many years Ackerman has cake-walked into re-election with no serious opponent.

Let Berney and Milano spend money on a primary. Let them get their message out that these Republicans need to come out September 14. Why? Well this isn’t going to be the only primary Republicans will need to be familiar with.

More than likely our statewide candidates will have to promote their primaries as well. Lazo and Paladino, Townsend and Berntsen, Blakeman, Malpass and DioGuardi, all will be telling Republicans there is a primary on September 14. Berney and Milano will have to do the same. It will peak the interests of Republicans in district 5 and two months before the General Election, they will all know there is a congressional candidate that is a bit more serious than in previous elections.

I wish both Berney and Milano luck. Let’s stop attacking fellow Republicans here, choose our candidate and focus on why we need to elect one of these Republicans over Ackerman.

By daniel on Jul 13, 2010

  10. Daniel,

Only Liz is attempting to prevent a primary. She attempted to sue Dr. Milano and the Queens County Republican party to enjoin them from endorsing Dr. Milano and filing a certificate authorizing his candidacy.

Both the Queens and Nassau County GOP met and voted on this but she does not want to accept the vote. She sued the Conservative Party and their Candidate in ’08 for not endorsing her and also attempted to throw him off teh ballot.

Every Party has a screening and interview process – even the “Tea Parties” which is more of a movement than a formal party. But every Candidate was extensively interviewed and every Party based on its own platform and assessments endorsed a candidate. Liz just does not like it when she does not get her way. That is why she is demonizing the Queens Republican Party and the Nassau and Queens Conservative Party in 2010 but loved the Queens GOP in ’08.

However in ’08 when the Nassau GOP collected zero signatures for her and the Queens GOP collected a huge number for her she was grateful to Queens but attacked Nassau. See a pattern? My way or the highway.

  11. The Republican establishment is as dysfunctional as the Democrats. The electorate is pi$$ed off and we don’t want any more business as usual, ‘paid their dues’ candidates. Republican leadership ( I use the term loosely) should man up for a job poorly done and resign.

Yes, Ackerman is a travesty, but Liz Berney is NOT The answer. Wake up Republicans! The world is changing and you don’t get it.

By Doug on Jul 13, 2010

  12. I have read the article and the comments. It is obvious that the only personal attacks are those directed against Liz Berney, please see the comments above. I was one of the candidates in the original town hall meeting and the meetings in Judy Morris’s house. Liz was also present at both events, while Dr Milano as the latecomer was only at the town hall meeting. I would like to know where each of the candidates ranked at the town hall meeting since I spoke to many of the people who attended and the candidates rankings are not being portrayed accurately. Dr Milano has the endorsement of the Queens County Republican committee while Liz Berney has the endorsement of the Nassau County Republican committee. I would like to remind Judy Morris that while Mr Mondello did not interview either Dr Milano or myself, it was Mr Ragusa who scheduled the committee’s meeting on Saturday knowing full well that as an Orthodox Jew I would be unable to attend. Between Berney and Milano, I have found Berney to have a much better grasp of the issues and in addition she is the only Republican and the only candidate in the primary race who resides in the 5th Congressional district. So lets stop the mud-slinging and have a real debate about the issues!

By Jack Lipsky on Jul 13, 2010

  13. Judith Morris has the abrasive manner. She acts like she is the boss of everyone in Nassau and Queens and makes false accusations against anyone who is not her personal pet. Other organizers and members of Judith’s tea party clique left her group because they can’t stand Judith. Judith Morris is the kind of person who gives well-meaning tea-partiers a bad name.

Judith also does not believe in free speech. Judith has excluded Liz Berney from every single candidates’ night, even though Liz has bravely and admirably fought for the “tea party issues” before there was even a tea party. Judith also continues to attack Liz on Judith’s tea party website, and cut Liz off from the site, to keep Judith’s little clique from hearing the truth.

Judith’s poll was also a bunch of nonsense because Milano & two other candidates packed the audience with their friends and relatives, a group of extremists who live outside the district. Just like Milano does. Milano has no business running in the 5th Congressional District. He lives in the 3rd Congressional District.

Milano also has switched parties so many times that no one knows what he really believes.

Liz is an honorable and decent person and did not cheat like the other candidates did.

Liz Berney is soft-spoken and extremely pleasant, and is the most knowledgeable on all the issues. She has my vote.

    By Darlene M on Jul 13, 2010

  14. Milano is a Democrat and lives outside the district. He switched parties four times in the past few years. What kind of nonsense is that?? Milano is NOT the answer to Ackerman.

By Sean Johnson on Jul 13, 2010

  15. Liz Berney is the most pro-Israel candidate and has the best background for the job. She is the most knowledgeable about the Middle East, foreign policy and taxation. She wrote dozens of Op Eds and articles in newspapers, and lectures about these issues. She also has been focusing attention on the slaughter of Christians around the world by radical Muslims, in articles in papers all over the country. Look at her great article about Jihad Against Christians. http://www.tulsatoday.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1665:jihad-against-christians&catid=61:national&Itemid=109 Liz also keeps pointing out Obama’s flaws.

Liz’s opponent (the emergency doctor) has written and done nothing.

Liz would be a great, intelligent Congresswoman, just what we need in Congress.

She is also a University of Chicago Law School educated tax and litigation lawyer, and really understands how Congress is killing the American taxpayer. She will fight to reduce taxes.

By Gene Goldstein on Jul 13, 2010

  16. Liz did NOT sue the Conservative Party. The guy who wrote this does not know what he is talking about.

Liz just sued the Conservative Party CANDIDATE in 2008 because this candidate filed fraudulent petitions with signatures of DEAD people. Liz also sued Ackerman in 2008 because Ackerman filed fraudulent petitions in 2008 with hundreds of signatures of people who do not exist at addresses that do not exist. Ackerman came inches away from being thrown off the ballot by Liz.

Because of what Liz did in 2008, Ackerman and his petitions operation is now running scared. No more vampire petitions.

I’m glad that Liz does not roll over and play dead when other candidates cheat and commit fraud. We need fighters like her in Congress. We should support her.

    By Darlene M on Jul 13, 2010

  17. This is really funny. The same people who begged Liz Berney to help them with their legal problems last year, and were thrilled that she helped them, are now complaining about Liz starting a good lawsuit.

By Sharon Berger on Jul 13, 2010

  18. Personally I find this entertaining. I question whether Judith Morris is a closet anti-semite? Liz Berney while sometimes abrasive is usually on target and speaks directly which rubs people the wrong way. They can’t handle the truth which Morris refuses to acknowledge and bars Berney from commenting on the other site. Judith Morris is a tyrant like Reid, Pelosi and Obama. I am somewhat prejudiced and not objective as my brother Jack, while lacking in his public speaking ability, had the greatest knowledge of all the issues in the District next to Berney. Milano….he is a non-resident RINO who has no party or community affiliation. Being a pragmatist and having studied Holmes, I deduced he is a Democratic plant and has no chance of getting more than 35% of the vote. Ackerman will crush him and I hope that Berney crushes this one trick pony Milano in the primary. By one trick I mean he only has a pro-life stand on abortion to differentiate himself. Otherwise he has no affinity with the district and should be dismissed. If not, when he loses everyone should demand that Morris and her cohorts resign and get out so next time we can get a candidate who will win!

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 13, 2010

  19. Obama is abandoning Israel and our other friends, and is bowing and catering to our enemies. We need the best pro-Israel, pro-national security candidates we can find to stop this. Randy Altshuler is the best candidate on these issues in Congressional District 1. Liz Berney is the best candidate on these issues in Congressional District 5. Mr. Altshuler and Ms. Berney are both active leadership members of the Republican Jewish Coalition. Ms. Berney also writes blogs for the Republican Jewish Coalition. Judith Morris should stop attacking these two ideal candidates.

By Gene Goldstein on Jul 13, 2010

  20. REFUTING MORE SMEARS:

p.s. The same “Art Doyle” who falsely accused Liz of suing the Conservative Party also made false accusations about the Nassau GOP. “Art Doyle’s” statements are a total smear. Liz has never sued the Conservative Party. Liz has NEVER sued or attacked the Nassau GOP. Quite the opposite.

In fact, Liz Berney is a Republican committeewoman in Great Neck – Nassau County. Liz has consistently worked hard FOR both the Nassau GOP and the Queens GOP, writing and speaking about GOP issues and working hard to get Nassau and Queens GOP candidates elected.

In addition to helping Nassau GOP and Queens GOP candidates, Liz has helped national GOP candidates. Liz was a designated surrogate debater for the McCain campaign in 2008, for local Obama versus McCain surrogate debates.

“Art Doyle” is also lying about the 2008 petitions. Both the Nassau GOP and the Queens GOP helped obtained many petition signatures for Liz in 2008.

“Art Doyle” is just a Milano plant who is trying to smear Liz Berney and the Nassau GOP. Milano and Judith Morris are running a smear campaign against Liz and the Nassau GOP because the Nassau GOP refuses to do whatever tyrant-asourus-Morris and Democrat carpetbagger Milano want.

The Nassau GOP and Queens GOP (Chairman Bart Haggerty section) and Nassau and Queens Libertarian Party all picked the right candidate in this race – Republican Liz Berney.

    By Darlene M on Jul 13, 2010

  21. Milano is probably just a pawn of Ackerman and the draft Halloran groupies. The Halloran groupies want Milano and Berney to kill each other off this year so that Halloran can waltz in to the nomination in 2012. Ackerman wants Milano and Berney to kill each other off in September so that Ackerman can just win this year without lifting a finger.

The Milano-Berney fight is very destructive. Berney would have a real chance this year if she had a straight shot at Ackerman. Berney and Milano should sit down and get together.

By Arthur Jackson on Jul 13, 2010

  22. Dear Raquel,

Thank you again for your endorsement. It means so much to me.

It is a great honor to add your endorsement to my unanimous endorsements by the Nassau County Republican Party, the Queens County Republican Party (Chairman Bart Haggerty group), the Nassau County Libertarian Party, the Queens County Libertarian Party, and Congressman Peter King.

I also very much want to thank you for maintaining an open blog for comments, Raquel. It is wonderful that people have the opportunity to respond to smears with the truth.

I hope that in the future, closed forums will follow your great example of having an open forum for debate. (Ahem, Ms. Morris.)

Meanwhile, I look forward to continuing to work hard on the issues we care about, including lower taxes, lower spending, jobs, national security, challenging Obama administration legislation and policies (including Obamacare), and supporting our allies including Israel and South Korea.

  24. I had no desire to get involved in this internecine nonsense until I read Ted Lipsky accusing Judy Morris of being a “closet anti-semite”. That takes the cake for absurd and banal nonsense. By the way, you can not be an” Orthodox Jew” and pro abortion . Judaism is not pro “choosing” to murder an innocent baby. So who is anti Jewish?

By bob unger on Jul 13, 2010

  25. I was originally going to respond to Ted Lipsky’s slanderous remarks about Judy Morris but feel that by responding to him would only shed credibility on it and since there is none I am choosing to ignore them. Rather, I am going to respond to the others. I am not sure why some people feel the need to be so divisive. The truth is that Liz and Milano as well as Jack Lipsky and Phil Orenstein and Bob Unger and the small business owner whose name I cannot recall ( who owned the limo company), ALL had the same opportunity to present their respective platform on the issues at the town hall meeting. How do I know this? Well I was the individual who sequestered all of them while the people attending the event filed into the room. therefore I know
Everyone is entitled to their personal opinion and while some of you may think it unfair that there are people who do not agree with you and I may sit here and not understand how someone cannot see my point- the reality is that we live in a free country where everyone is entitled to voice their opinion notwithstanding the fact that you or I may not see eye to eye. So for Jack to say everyone is attacking Liz is disingenous. Or perhaps it was said in order to feel justified in attacking those of us that don’t feel the same way about the candidate of your choice.
If you want to really stop the mud slinging then maybe you should not engage in it yourself. Both candidates have their own strong points and both have their own weak points. The people in the 5th CD are ultimately the ones who will make the decision based on their assessment of the candidate- not based on sour grapes. I have not seen one disparaging remark made by Dr. Milano’s camp about Liz and it would be nice to have that same courtesy returned.
The real travesty here is that the only person who put their passion to work to initiate all is is the one person who is the recipient of your anger and frustration simply because they did not pick the person you deem is most appropriate for the position. You are welcome to your opinion and I would not ever think to make pejorative remarks about you or your choice of candidate. All I request in return is reciprocity. Let’s not villainize the people who spent so much of their time effort and passion to bring this together simply because the outcome was not what you wanted. I didn’t see anyone else in that group open up their home or offer much of anything else in terms of fostering this movement, myself included. So I would not be throwing stones. Thank God for people like Judy Morris and her husband Steve, who could be spending their time enjoying their retirement years but prefer to fight for our country and invest their time in putting this together.

  26. OK…I apologize for my close antisemite remark about Ms. Morris. It was out of line and I regret it. I do stand by the rest of what I said though and am 100% convinced it is right on. Good luck Liz.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 13, 2010

  27. I fail to see anything in my comment that could be considered an attack on Judy Morris. I think that Judy and Steve Morris deserve our thanks for their hard work. My problem is with the process that is freezing one of the candidates out of any debate or comments. I agree with Lisa that the people in the 5th CD are the ones who will make their decision about which candidate is best for them, not those who reside outside the district. It is time for debates between Berney and Milano. I should not be accused of “mud slinging” because I disagree with your view and have pointed out several important facts;
    1) Dr Milano has the Queens County Republican Endorsement
    2) Liz Berney has the Nassau County Republican Endorsement
    3) Liz Berney resides in the 5th Congressional District
    4) Dr Milano reisdes in the 3rd Congressional District
    5) Liz Berney is a registered Republican
    6) Dr Milano is a registered Democrat
I fail to understand where the “sour grapes” comment is deserved. Our goal is to win the election and not allow our petty interests to interfere. A free and open exchange of ideas will determine the most qualified candidate!

  28. Thank you for the good wishes, Ted!

    To Frank J. Russo, Jr.
Thank you for your strong support in 2008, and for your kind words about me and my candidacy to this day.

A general word to all, if I may:

I hope we can put mudslinging aside and look at what will work best for all concerned. With all due respect, sending me to Congress and having Dr. Milano remain as a much-needed emergency doctor is the best of both worlds.

My tax and litigation and investigative background (which also includes representing medical societies in health care litigation) and tax policy studies while at the University of Chicago Law School (J.D. 1978) well equip me to work to repeal and replace the new health care law and other Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Ackerman legislation with common sense smaller-government, lower-tax solutions that preserve the best of our great medical system and country.

The Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Ackerman “health care” law will require 14,000 new IRS agents to implement and mentions the terms “tax,” “taxpayer” and “taxation” 582 times. Virtually the only medical terms in the “health care” law are words such as “hospitalization.” The law is really more about taxation, wealth transfers, incredibly burdensome tax reporting obligations, and transfers of control to the government than it is about health care. The same is true of cap and trade and other Obama legislation. We truly need to elect Congresspersons who are equipped to fight to stop the runaway taxation and spending agenda which is driving our country and citizens into bankruptcy.

The 16 current physician-Congresspersons were ineffective at stopping the health care law. Yet, another 47 physicians are running for Congress this year. It’s to the point where we’ll have to tell patients to show up at Capitol Hill instead of at the emergency room!

Meanwhile, we are facing an impending severe shortage of physicians and other health care workers – just at the time when baby boomers will be reaching the age when they will need much more medical care. Several thousand more practicing physicians will be needed than are projected to be available.

Physicians should always be thoroughly consulted and asked to testify at hearings on health care legislation. However, we desperately need physicians and other medical workers to spend most of their time continuing to do what they’ve spent decades of their lives and hundreds of thousands of dollars training to do — caring for patients. And we desperately need to elect persons (such as me) who have spent decades of their lives training to read, understand and fight for legislation, in order to stop the destructive Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Ackerman legislative agenda.

Thank you and best regards to all contributors to this blog,
    Liz

  29. I stated reading this controversial blog and was taken aback by the level of vitriol and guttural remarks going to the extent of calling one of our fellow patriots, Judy Morris an “anti-semite” and “tyrant.” I am pleased to see an apology, but such ad hominem rhetoric cannot be tolerated in political discourse by our side, when we should be setting the example of an aboveboard political campaign even though we have our own troublesome disputes. Let’s leave the innuendo and harangues for liberal whiners. I do have my own issues to say the least. But I will not let politics ever get in the way of my friendships. Raquel is one of my best friends although we are hopelessly split on this race, having given my wholehearted support to Dr. Milano, whom I believe to be a dynamic leader of the people and rock-solid conservative. I consider Liz a friend as well although I chose not to support her in this election. I hope she understands my decision as I expressed it to her many times and will be more forgiving.

  30. Phil, your remarks are good but one question remains unanswered. Why is the 9/12 site which purports itself to be fair, balanced and transparent prohibiting people including Liz Berney from posting their thoughts and opinions? Pretty one-sided if you ask me. Other than far far right constituents, I feel Milano has zero appeal and will have serious troubles fund raising and challenging Ackerman. He was the wrong choice.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 15, 2010

  31. Thanks to all for your comments!

Phil, deciding against your choice in candidates was p-a-i-n-s-t-a-k-i-n-g. As you know, I absolutely LOVE you AND respect your opinion tremendously. :)

  32. A few things to write.
    1. Dr. Milano has the queens rebuplican party endorsement
    2. He has the queens conservative party endorsement
    3. He has the nassau conservative party endorsement
    4. He has the support of the Conservative Society for Action members
    5. He has the support of the Right to Life Organization
    6. He is strongly pro-Israel
    7. He was recently recognized at a GOP fundraiser as one of the candidates in New York’s 5th Congressional District

By the truth on Jul 16, 2010

  33. It is understandable that Raquel would support Liz, because the threat of litigation can be quite overwhelming. I have been witness over the past 5 years Liz Berney’s wild antics and frivolous lawsuits, she appears to have a fatal attraction with Gary Ackerman or for that manner any one that questions her candidancy. Although her labile personality should not be the focus of her criticism, it is difficult to ignore her pugnacious pit bull style attacks on gentle people. She has alienated all her friends and we all hope that she finds peace in the future. Gary Ackerman scored 70% of the vote in 2008 compared to Liz Berney’s anemic 28% showing. People in the inner circles of politics fear her because she turns on a dime. Her strong pro-abortion stance has angered many conservatives. In 2008, she sued the Conservative Party because she wanted their endorsement, despite the fact that she is not conservative, but a raging liberal who aligns herself with Nancy Pelosi. Many of her friends have suggested that she receive counseling, but she is not receptive. I pray that she finds peace in her life and studies the science of conception so that she will stop her support of abortion. She also is a financial liberal and reports that she would fight for more earmarks and pork in the budget. Robert

By robert on Jul 17, 2010

  34. The lipsky family reportedly supports Liz Berney because they were unable to unseat her as the Nassau GOP choice. Rumor has it that Liz has promised to support Lipsky for county legislator and that support was couched with a potential lawsuit against the Lipskys if they stood in her way. When Liz uncovered that the Great Chamber of Commerce supported Jack Lipsky she went of on a tirade. Fearing the wrath of frequent lawsuits Lipsky reportedly backed off.

By tom on Jul 17, 2010

  35. robert — I respect your decision to refuse to back Berney because her “pro-choice” position is a wrong one. What you say above, however, is not true. I do not fear Liz because I think she might sue me, not in the least! We are friends. Every other political issue, Liz is a rock solid conservative Republican.

The most recent attack on LIz’ ethical and legal conduct is hog-wosh. I think the Milano campaign should concentrate on running a primary against Liz, rather than attempting to smear her out of the race.

By Raquel on Jul 17, 2010

  36. I have been watching this from afar and reading all the postings. I must mention that over the past few day Liz Berney has been posting on the Urban Elephant and the posting have been such an outrage that the they were pulled because of its inflammatory and biased slant which is based upon complete falsehood. Liz Berney’s wild eyed accusation have been cause for Jay Golub to pull her postings. I was once a Berney supporter and I resisted everyone’s urging me to dump her, but now I realize the character with which she comports herself. I have serious reservations as to whether she would be better than Ackerman. I believe she is just what is wrong with congress and would not be able to vote for her.
    josh

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  37. Why is Berney so fearful of a PRIMARY, they are healthy. Instead of spewing hatred she should brush up on her verbal communication skills. In 2008, Ackerman embarrased her with almost no effort. She thinks that because Obama is President that there will be a clean sweep of DEMS out on Washington. Pretty niave for a seasoned tax attny.

By tom on Jul 18, 2010

  38. Let us set this straight right now. Liz Berney has been posting on the Urban Elphant over the past few days, and because of her wild eyed accusations and slander, Jay Golub had to pull the Berney postings and adminish her. She is just what is wrong with today’s political climate and she would not be an asset to congress. I supported her in 2008 against the advice of my family and friends, I will not make that mistake again.
    Josh

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  39. I started out a big supporter of Liz Berney in 2008, against the advice of family and friends. I frequently read and contribute to blogs that I feel are worthwhile and I still feel that way about this one. I like that it is conservative but yet conducts an analysis of issues that are important. I also read the Urban Elephant and I noted a page long posting by Liz Berney that was deceitful and based on anger and wild eyed accusations. Her hatred couched with gentle words in arobotic fashion does not hide that fact that she is vindictive as I have learned once I pulled my support from her. Her outrageous postings on the Urban Elephant were pulled by the editor Jay Golub and she was admonished. I told her time after time in 2008, you don’t make friends by suing people and expecting their endorsement in next cycle, which is what happen with the conservative party. Especially when the conservative party platform is Pro-life.
Liz , I urge you to make ammends.
    Josh

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  40. Josh, thank you for your comments.

I was following the postings at UE as well. And You are wrong about what happened. Someone posted a vicious rumor about Liz, in which Liz was forced to defend herself.

Although I didn’t speak to Jay directly, my impression is that the posts were removed because of the vitriol and unproven accusations presented.

Liz is a smart and capable woman. One can disagree with Liz on the issues, and make a point without rumors, accusations and lies perpetrated against her. Grow up everyone!

By Raquel on Jul 18, 2010

  41. raquel i understand you are her friend and you endorsed her, but what was said about Liz is not a rumor it is the truth.

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  42. also, if our 3 inalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, then how come Liz still is pro-abortion because that is taking away life.

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  43. josh — my support for Liz goes beyond a friendship. Liz knows the issues that are important to the community. She has the tenacity to fight Ackerman. Personally, I think Liz is absolutely brilliant, have you read what she has written?

I spoke to Liz on the phone yesterday, and my suspicion was confirmed, Liz Berney did not assault anyone. The Milano campaign is spending too much time attempting to smear Liz out of the race, and not enough time addressing the issues.

Yes, the life issue is important, and Yes the CP is pro-life, but let’s not be naive, the CP put at the top of their ticket (Governor) Rick Lazio who is also “pro-choice”.

Over the years, Liz has communicated to me her interest in my pro-life commentary, and an interest in preserving unborn life. I have a lot of hope for a conversion.

Liz, hang in there! Keep working hard getting to know the voters and spreading your message of fiscal sanity, a strong national defense, and an America as envisioned by the Founding Fathers, free from government tyranny.

By Raquel on Jul 18, 2010

  44. raquel,
of course Liz isnt going to tell the truth about her assaulting someone. That would be like asking someone did you commit this crime, if so you will be prosecuted

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  45. by the way you have a well set-up website. did you design it or did a professional do it?

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  46. Thanks josh! My husband did the design.

By Raquel on Jul 18, 2010

  47. Just to let everyone know the truth: Someone (belived to be connected with the Milano camp) has been running an outrageous smear campaign against me, to divert attention from the real issues in this race, including my strong qualifications to fight for our community and country against the Obama/Ackerman tax and spend agenda and abandonment of our allies.

The latest outrageous smear was that I punched Darryl Fox in the face! Frankly, this was so absurd that I laughed when I read it. If such an assault had really occurred, it would be national news, I would be doing push-ups in the cell next to Ackerman’s favorite campaign contributor (Bernie Madoff), and Darryl Fox would be wearing one of my grandchildren’s miniature Snoopy bandaids on his face.

Those who know me know that I am non-violent. Urban Elephants invited me to tell the true story of what occurred, which I posted: Essentially, Milano and Ragusa’s attorneys improperly walked out with papers which they were supposed to share with my attorneys.

Darryl Fox has confirmed the truth that I did NOT punch him, displaying integrity in this. In addition, Urban Elephants received numerous complaints from people who who were upset that someone was using the UE forum for making libelous smears against me. Everyone directly concerned agreed that the best course was to take the entire discussion down from UE, to stop any further charges back and forth. We all have much bigger concerns.

I’m sorry to see that some smear campaigners are now trying to use Raquel’s wonderful forum to purvey the same smears against me here. I hope that “josh” and the rest of the smear-campaigners will find something better to do with their time, and will stop spreading false nonsense.

Let’s stick to the important issues in the race, everyone! .

    All the best,
    Liz

  48. Who are these dirty tricks smear operatives josh and robert? They both sound like the same person, Milano’s operative Robert Hornak. What he or they are doing is ugly and disgusting. Liz is the best we have. Stop making up lies about her.

By Sander on Jul 18, 2010

  49. hey its not smearing if its true. liz are you pro-abortion? yes or no

By josh on Jul 18, 2010

  50. I have no idea who Tom is, but he sounds like a Milano plant and that doesn’t surprise me at all. Perhaps it is just typical of the way some people run their campaign. Everything in Tom’s post of July 17th is fallacious.
    1) My family does not support Liz Berney since we were unable to unseat her as the Nassau GOP choice.
    2) Perhaps the rumor that “Liz has promised to support Lipsky for county legislator” is only in Tom’s mind since there is absolutely no truth to this rumor.
    3) Again Tom’s claim “of a potential lawsuit against the Lipskys if they stood in her way” again this only resides in his mind.
    4) Regarding his Chamber of Commerce statement perhaps Tom can enighten everyone to where and when this “tirade” happened.
    5) Tom should also talk to either myself or my brother before he makes these false accusations regarding “the wrath of frequent lawsuits”
Finally, it would be nice if Tom had the “guts” to print his full name and not hide!

    Jack Lipsky

By Jack Lipsky on Jul 19, 2010

  51. Tom, please post your last name if you have any guts and your full first name. Second, Liz has been nothing but professional towards us unlike Milano who supposedly has made behind closed door deals. Lastly if Liz lost badly in 08′ Milano will do no better. We (Lipsky’s) never did endorse Liz but against Milano who is a fake and a fraud (True Democrat or RINO depending on the day of the week and does not live in the District) I would probably support Ackerman. At leadt we know he is useless and not potentially dangerous to our constituents. We cannot count him since he is not ‘one of us’. Again as for you Tom, I heard a great line last night that I think may describe someone like you since you chose not to reveal yourself: “I will not climb into a pig pen to do battle with someone like you, the reason is you only get dirty and the pig enjoys it.” Have a nice day.

Milano and his buddies looks like absolute garbage for running this smear campaign. It’s offensive and it’s not winning their boy any votes.

By Sander on Jul 19, 2010

By josh on Jul 19, 2010

  57. Actually Milano has been silent….everywhere….in fact he is invisible….it is the people who selected him that are smearing Liz because their necks are on the line. As the Knight said to Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade; “They chose poorly.”

josh, to reply….that is what it took for Milano to beat the other much better qualified candidates to be selected by the corrupt 9-12 group.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 19, 2010

  58. Ted,
Prejudice is not becoming of an American, so unless you feel it is normal to prejudge you should desist from being so childish. Don’t be jealous because Liz edged you out as the lesser of two evils. You both have alot of growing up to do. Take baby steps and confront your anger with yourself and disappointment with Liz and find comfort in knowing that tommorrow is another day. There is always hope that the Lipsky’s can mount a campaign in support of each other instead of being told what to do by Liz Berney. Don’t fear Liz, she will likely be the person that supports you when you run for another office in 2014. You will need time to mature and realize that just because you are rich it does not equate with compassion or intellect. Anger consumes from within and the bible tells us that jealousy is a sin. As far as your insults against the Morris’, they are much more secure with themselves and their accomplishments in life. They truely love this country and want to help restore honesty and the American dream, but because of socialists such as your band of three, you will never be the choice of the people. Many people have heard the Lipsky’s poke fun and insult the tea party, because the Lipsky’s stand for the same old policies of the current president( more fraud, more lies, continued jealous, and slander). May G-D bestow peace and acceptance on your minds in your quest for happiness and fulfillment.

  62. Bob….who are you and you could not be more wrong! I am a member of the Tea Party here in Virginia where I live and our candidate who was well thought out and selected is going to defeat the DEM incumbent. No One defeated me as I did NOT run. Maybe a senility check would help you as you do not know the facts therefore you have zero credibility so please cease unless you know what you are talking about! The only thing I have prejudice against are stupid people who are foolish and open their mouths NOT KNOWING what they are talking about. You call us Socialists! Sorry but you are an idiot. We happen to be living the American dream and I have supported the TEA Party in Virginia since its inception. I hate taxes and want to keep what i earn for my family. Keep quoting the bible but you sound more like Caine……

Tom, what is your last name???? You are another person with zero credibility since you refuse to say who you are so you should stay silent and hide behind Milano. Milano in the end will be found to be agents of Ackerman. Yes I would support someone like Ackerman against another Obama type fake like Milano. But…I support Liz against Milano and hope she crushes him in the primary which is your greatest fear. All I said is when that happens the people who selected him should resign and be replaced. Just like I said Reid, Pelosi and Obama should eventually be tried for crimes against the people of the USA. This will happen when WE THE PEOPLE take back the USA on November 2 and Rep. Issa files charges against these traitors. Sorry buddy…Milano will not be there to see it and neither will you.

  66. Judy Morris does not believe in freedom. She excludes Liz from meet the candidates nights for only one reason. Judy knows that anyone who meets Liz there will vote for Liz Berney, the only true Republican and the only one who has been fighting for the tea party principles of lower taxes and spending, and for strong national security for years. Liz Berney is also the best pro-Israel candidate.

Judy – stop being afraid to open up your candidates nights to Liz. Every endorsed candidate should be there. If you can invite Fran Becker, you surely can invite Liz Berney.

We are sick of Judy just trying to push a Democrat who lives outside the district (Milano) down our throats. A lot of people have left Judy’s group because they are acting like tyrants. 9-12 is doomed if it keeps acting like this.

By Sander on Jul 20, 2010

  67. Some history:

Judy Morris’s self-appointed “selection committee” decided after the inteviews that the best 3 candidates were Liz Berney, Jack Lipsky and Mark Denker – who are all Jewish pro-Israel Republicans who live in the district. That is the ideal profile to run against Ackerman. Judy Morris’ husband told Liz that she was the best at the town hall.

Milano’s good-old-boy friends from outside the district started complaining and doing everything they could to try to destroy the best picks Judy finally flipped to supporting Milano, the Democrat from out of the district, even though Judy told a lot of people previously that she couldn’t stand Milano. Judy even called Milano some unprintable words before.

By Eleanor Palmer on Jul 20, 2010

  69. Ted and Jack Lipsky are not socialists. They are just pointing out simple truths:

In a Milano versus Ackerman match-up, the left, the middle, and much of the right all goes to Ackerman. No one trusts Milano, with his lack of record and constant party flipping and carpetbagging in a district where he does not live.

In a Berney versus Ackerman match-up, the right and the middle goes to Berney. Also, much of the Jewish vote goes to Berney. Ditto for a Lipsky versus Ackerman match-up. Berney and Lipsky are both much better candidates than Milano is.

These gutless bloggers, who will not use their real names, are only trying to obfuscate the truth! For the record, I am a Registered Republican (if you want check my voter registration). By josh on Jul 20, 2010

  73. Liz was really smeared josh, most recently the lie that she “punched” Milano’s campaign manager. Liz has no choice to defend herself.

The biggest problem is that each candidate has some over-anxious supporters. Each candidate, however, have behaved appropriately and both are likely prepared to run a primary against each other while at the same time addressing the negatives towards Ackerman. Republicans can decide in Sept.

By Raquel on Jul 21, 2010

  74. Hopefully Liz beats Milano in the primary but here is the reason I believe they will both lose.

Liz has approximately $35K in her war chest. Milano has about $61K (51K a lone from himself). Ackerman $1.5 to 2.0 Million. So they will fight it out until Septemeber to see who gets to lose to Ackerman.

In Virginia we slected our candidate last December and started fundraising. $1.3 Million to date. Incumbent has $1.6 but is significantly trailing in the polls. We will rais another $1 Million for our guy between now and November and will crush the tax and spend incumbent. If you guys would have selected by borther Jack Lipsky who was the best candidate and most knowledgeable we would have brought this fund raising machine to your district. Milano will not win. Liz, while I respect her does not have the war chest to win. This fight will get dirty and without the $$$ you cannot compete. Again my opinion and not an attack on anyone.

In Virginia we selected our candidate last December and started fundraising. $1.3 Million to date. Incumbent has $1.6 but is significantly trailing in the polls. These people do not have a clue as to what it will take to run a winning campaign.

  86. i HAVE READ , OR LOOKED AT MOST OF THESE COMMENTS. THEY SEEM TO HAVE ONE THOUGHT IN MIND, THAT THE OTHER SIDE IS SOME HOW EVIL. Well the other side is evil, but just who is on the other side. Are Robert and his people just there to suck the coffers dry. The money that Milano paid the Ragusa Republican’s has funded the petition drives of Frank Padavan, Vincent Tabone, Robert Frodrich, and his advisary Timoth Furey, and Dr. Milano. While Timothy Furey was also a subscribing wittness for all of the above, except for Frodreich. The Ragusites are also involved in The Issac Sasson Race a dem for state senate against T.A. Stavisky. And had offered their services to Robert Schwartz,, also running as a conservative against Stavisky, they only wanted $100,000. to start off with. They got from Milano over 10 grand above the table and several more in gifts below it. Padavan and Tabone haven’t paid anything for the petitioning. Milano is the cash cow, He cashed in two MM accounts to fund the race, and even though both he and his wife are both MD’s he’s just a G.P., while she’s a specialist. He is not a cardioloist, nor is an emergency medical specialist, just a internist working as an intake doctor in the St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room. He said he does it so that he dosen’t need to have a practice, and dosen’t have to pay malpractice insurance. The good doctor and his wife live in Oyster Bay Cove, outside the district, he’s a registered Democrat running as a conservative(they’re romancing the tea party for more members), and he only has half the queens county republican endorsement, Liz has the other half, So Liz has 72.5% of the republicans, while Milano has 27.5% not a clear cut majority of anything. But they are sucking him dry, maybe he’ll learn his lesson and stick to medicine, or maybe get a hot dog wagon, he can make more than a doctor, there is no insurance, and its tax free. (with his wagon just outside the North Shore Animal League, or in the St Francis E.R Parking lot)

    Bart Haggerty is My Chairman
And those nasty quotes in the papers will end up costing the naysayers greatly

By mITCH sCHWADRON on Jul 26, 2010

  87. Sorry for the upper and lower case reversal, I seemed to have pressed the wrong shift key, this is after all not my old L.C. Smith & Corona Model 12 Typewritter. nor am i writting completely in lower case nor am i a cockroach named archie, and i don’t know don marquis. nor do i work for the new york mirror

By mITCH sCHWADRON on Jul 26, 2010

  88. Mitch…wow! Thanks for blowing the whistle on this guy. I knew he was not trustworthy but never thought he was that slimy. I hope this is enough information for everyone now to throw their support behind Liz. Milano needs to go away…..

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 26, 2010

  89. Dr. Milano does not live in Oyster Bay Cove, he lives in Oyster Bay. He is an ER Doctor, his superior pays for all malpractice insurence for his whole team of doctors because he owns the contract with the hospital; they are a separate entity. lastbut not least, Bart Haggerty is not the real chairman, no matter how much you want to believe he is.

By john on Jul 26, 2010

  90. Actually, John, Mitch didn’t say Bart is the real chairman, he said he’s “My chairman.” Therefore Mitch is chaired by Bart.

By daniel on Jul 26, 2010

  91. daniel, notice how you didnt even try to disprove my claims because you know they are correct, and i have a quesion for you, who is the legitimet Queens County Republican Chairman?

By john on Jul 26, 2010

  92. Fran Werner was my leader, as was Lilly Bachman before her. Fran was displaced in a war of revenge by the then enemies from Middle Villiage in 1995. I ended up on the Cover of the Queens Resident about that faithful day, Janon Fisher , now of the New York Post was the erstwhile reporter.. But times have changed and the the former evil empire has become aligned with the good guys, and the former friends have now replaced them, in both word and deed. While being a republican in Queens is not the place to be, always fighting for standing, it works a lot better if your leadership wasn’t selling you out, or looking for bowls of cash, sacks of cash, suitcases and briefcases of cash. But not returning anything in kind. The inner circle has jobs with the Bd. of Elections, 55K a year an more, contracts and deals, the Democrats on a smaller scale, with less chance to go to jail because the dollar amounts aren’t large enough, yet.

No matter what the Ragusites decrie, there are two county chairmen in Queens, neither side wants to challenge it in court, because the other side may not like the outcome. Its Chairman Bart, and Chairmen Phil, together and seperate. I don’t care how much the other side claims, or yells or curses, at least Bart won’t be inder inveatigation by the IRS, and the DOJ for what the Ragusites may be doing. There is a sharp distinction as to wether or not Phil is actually in charge, its not Dan Egers, so some one else is running the show, maybe its Robert, John, Josh, or Daniel. They have to smear to avoid losing the gravy train. If in the primary, their side is the loser, then will the good doctor understand that he can’t win the race with just the conservative line

The State of New York , and the professional licenseing services of the AMA, state that Dr. Milano is an Internist. He is not admitted as a emergency medical speicalist, he has no other certificates, other than the basic license to practice medice in NYS. As an employee of the hospital or a sub contractor, he does not have to pay for his own malpractice insurance(he may have had a bad expierance in this matter and chose to be an employee instead of running a family practice) And Oyster Bay is still out of the district. Yes he can live anywhere in the state, but wouldn’t it be nice if he lived in the district, after all he’s not Ann Margaret Carrozza, or Pedro Espada.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 26, 2010

  93. Medicine, under–pardon my spelling but you get the gist of it anyway. This time the shift key was working, upper and lower case have not been confused. I can put my california job case back on the wall.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 26, 2010

  94. Somehow we have brought the Yiddish Theatre into this with Jacob the Liar? why just not Jacob, what about Robert, Josh, Judy, etal Oh these people whose noses keeping growing as they talk, type and text. Geppeto would be proud of his creations, just knot* their morals, and leanings

*they’re wood after all, just puppets of the evil empire.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 27, 2010

  95. Mitch, I don’t know why you have to drag me into your gripes with the Queens political organization. Where have I offended either candidate? You should learn to show a degree of independence and follow your heart. :)

By daniel on Jul 27, 2010

  96. yeah, daniel i think this mitch guy is confused and does not know what he is talking about, he is trying to smear people.

By john on Jul 27, 2010

  97. quote: “Mitch…wow! Thanks for blowing the whistle on this guy. I knew he was not trustworthy but never thought he was that slimy. I hope this is enough information for everyone now to throw their support behind Liz. Milano needs to go away…..”

Ted, please don’t be so gullible here.
I have no interest in either candidate. I’ve met them both and I like them both and may the best candidate win the primary. But I’m not about to believe some of the crap that is being said here from the Milano camp or the Berney camp unless it’s corroborated.

You are believing Mr Schwadron’s comments and accusations when he readily admits he is not part of the side he is accusing. How can that be blowing the whistle? Now, if he chooses to disclose information on his side of this argument, its another story.

By daniel on Jul 27, 2010

  98. Daniel, you make a good point but I have heard this now from 3 different sources about Milano. I understand this has also made its way to Ackerman’s camp. Liz we all know is clean but Milano had better stand up and say something because his being quiet is disturbing and almost an affirmation. Personally, I did not like nor did I trust Milano. He came off as a one-trick pony whose only stand was on abortion and no experience or knowledge in any other fiscal or specialized area.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 27, 2010

  99. hey ted were your 3 different sources liz, jack, and haggerty, if so i would like to know where your sources got the evidence

by the way ted, i think you are still angry your brother did not run, because you have written things like that on this page before.

By john on Jul 27, 2010

  100. john…do you have a last name or you are not proud of your family? I am not angry at all about my brother. He was not selected…..period end of story. Have not even thought about that. But when a one-trick pony like Milano gets a partial endorsement after what ‘seems to be’ questionable circumstances then I realize something smells bad. I am not the only one who thinks so and where there is this much smoke…something really does stink. As for Liz, I have never had one conversation with her outside of the night all the selected candidates were there in Albertson and the outsider Milano but she is clearly a much better choice to Milano. A person no one knows who just shows up, does not live in the district, is an outsider and a Democrat and then gets the partial endrosement? SCREAMS CORRUPTION TO ME. Again…..only my opinion which this country entitles me to have and the freedom to express. Lastly, Jack may not have performed well that night as his public speaking skills need much work and by 2012 will be vastly improved. If they were better at that time he would have CRUSHED everyone since no one could touch his knowledge on the issues.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 27, 2010

  101. i have to make this joke ted, no one could touch his knowledge on the issues because they couldnt find it. also i have freedom of press just like you and i do not have to give my full name, in addition you seem to write a lot about milano when i have not mentioned him, how would you know whom i support? i could support liz for all you know.

By john on Jul 28, 2010

  102. So who do you support? Also, by not identifying yourself you raise questions as to your idenitity and what you may be hiding. For all anyone knows you may be Milano? I write about Milano because his ethics have been brought into question and therefore his character has been put on the table. Having studied Holmes and using deductive reasoning and pur logic one can only conclude that this man cannot be trusted because there are so many questions that have been raised about where he came from, why he is here, how did he get here and get partial support and that is why I support Liz against him. He has done nothing to earn the trust and support because he is not a district constituent. He is an outsider.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  103. John (assuming that is your real name and whatever your last name is)
    To set the record straight;
    1) If you were at the town hall meeting you would have heard my responses to the questions that were asked
    2) You would have heard my take on the issues
    3) The people who were there heard all the candidates on the issues and ranked all the participants
    4) If you were not there, then I suggest that you watch it on you tube
    5) You can check out the FEC web site to find out who contributed to the candidates and where they spent their contributions – this just might educate you to the issues involved
Finally, I would appreciate it if you would stop your libelous statements regarding me, since we haven’t met or spoken. You have to right to support whichever candidate (Berney / Milano / Ackerman) you choose as does everyone else.

    Jack Lipsky

By Jack Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  104. you know jack, you seem like much nicer person than your brother, you use facts instead of insults.
also, ted i am not Dr. Milano i can tell you that, and where did he come from? the same place we all came from our mothers…..

By john on Jul 28, 2010

  105. I don’t know much about the Milano campaign, but if there is a question as to whether he has used money to pay for volunteers during petitioning (though that would not categorize them as “volunteers” but anyway), well there is nothing wrong with that.

Candidates do that all the time and its perfectly legal. It would be wrong for someone to misconstrue the use of such finances and make it out to be more than what it is.

I will note that there are a number of true volunteers that have been involved, republican party activists who help candidates without seeking monetary support. In all my six years of republican activism through the young republican club and working with county organizations, I think the only pay I’ve ever seen was pizza and beer, which I’m fine with. Though the last pizza I had gave me extreme heartburn.

By daniel on Jul 28, 2010

  106. Thanks, Danny, for the heads up on this discussion. There are some issues that I will chime in on as someone with first hand knowledge.

First, I am not a Milano operative. I do not work for the campaign, have received no compensation from the campaign, and never met Dr. Milano before petitioning began in June.

I was in court with the Queens GOP (the one and only Queens GOP organization chaired by Phil Ragusa) the day of the hearing of Liz’s lawsuit. I, too, affirmed on Urban Elephants that Liz never punched anyone, but did act in a very physically aggressive manor that some people found very disconcerting and a little scary.

Both the anonymous post and Liz’s post were removed from UE because they were out of control, like this post is becoming. Too vitriolic and inside baseball to be interesting to most readers.

I am unaware of any “smear” campaign being waged by Milano people, and other than the one anonymous and obviously mistaken post about punching, nothing else has been produced to demonstrate any such effort.

No one in the Queens GOP objected to Liz running this year. They just declined to endorse her this time. Liz is the one looking to use wild interpretations of the law to prevent Dr. Milano from running, as he is entitled to do. Let’s remember that when Liz ran in 2008, she too needed a Wilson Pakula as she was then not a member of the Republican Party.

In my opinion, it is Liz’s aggressive and litigious nature that makes her a poor candidate and probably the main reason she did not receive support from the Queens GOP this year. She was advised by many not to use the fruitless tactics she used in 2008, causing many, including myself, to step away from her campaign. I do not dislike her, in spite of what she may think. And we tried to maintain a relationship with her after the race.

No one had anything bad to say about Liz, until she decided to revisit her 2008 campaign strategy and sue everyone she disagreed with. Not to mention trying to build her argument on the dubious assertion that legally-challenged Bart Haggerty is the Chairman of the Queens GOP. Sorry, Liz, but that is a deal breaker.

Mithc, always good to hear from you. I always wonder about the fantasy world you live in. Seems like an interesting place. Mitch seems to think that people in the Queens GOP are making big bucks. That is very laughable. Mitch, the big bucks were stolen by your friends the Haggerty brothers from Bloomberg. For which they will be paying the penalty. Their sleazy ways have finally caught up to them.

Just for the record, there is only ONE Chairman of the Queens GOP, Phil Ragusa. There can only be ONE chairman of an organization. There legally can not be two bosses with two administrations running a single organization. Bart’s false filing have been referred to the Manhattan DA’s office. Phil Ragusa is the only legally recognized chairman of the Queens GOP. He was acknowledged as such by the NY GOP at the State convention, with Bart sitting in his seat with the Queens delegation as a state committee member, led by Ragusa.

Btw Mitch, how much are you getting paid by Liz to challenge Milano’s petitions? You ARE the objector, are you not? You did all the spec work, did you not? I was told that Milano submitted about 2700 signatures, more than 2x what was needed. You’ll need a miracle to prove he doesn’t deserve a place on the ballot.

Let the primary go forward, people. What are you all afraid of? Unless you don’t have any faith in your own signatures. Then you might have a problem. Time will tell.

By Robert Hornak on Jul 28, 2010

  107. Robert an excellent post and at least we know who we are listening to and what the issues/your issues are and why.

john…I am nice to people who are not cowards….you do not identify yourself THEREFORE you are a coward….! Go crawl back under your rock….

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  108. Jack….I just watched the Youtube Videos again and I must apologize to you. I would now say that you were more nervous and softspoken but clearly you had the best command on ALL the issues with some of the most direct responses. Liz’s strength was on Israel but Milano was weak everywhere except on abortion.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  109. by what i have read, it seems that this ted lipsky is wasting his time arguing with a fellow named john about nothing, it is quite funny.

By LIBERTARIAN on Jul 28, 2010

  110. Dear Libertarian….you are right…..I have had some free time on my hands lately and I forgot a lesson I was taught when I was young and that is….

The problem with climbing into a mud pit to do battle with a pig like john is all you get is dirty and the pig enjoys it. I am done commenting about things that people like “john” have to say as they are all worms and miserable in their lives….me I thank God that I am alive every day and am lucky enough to have 2 Birthdays…..in the future I will only respond to ‘real’ people….

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  111. 2 birthdays?

By LIBERTARIAN on Jul 28, 2010

  112. Ted was either born on Feb 29th, or at the stroke of midight on any other day, but Dec 31-Jan 1st is always more fun. While my spelling is sometime ruled by Spell Czech, Bob, its Manner, not manor. And John seems to have been frightened by my reference to Archie and Mehetibell, a book by Don Marquis, who was a writer for the NY Mirror in the teens and twenties. Bob, you also have the time and dedication to go to court on unrelated matters, or maybe a vested interests in the outcome of the court. But there are two County leaders with both the same weight and authority. The winner of the fixed county reorq meeting, where all of the opposing proxies were disqualified, until there was less opposition than was needed to appoint new leadership. (which also included disqualifying voters who were actually present, telling them they were unqualified to vote(?) even though they were sitting party officials) The bylaws state that the county chairman is also the chairman of the executive committee and vice-versa. But no reorg meeting was held for the executive committee, mostly because the Ragusites tried to oust all of those people who disagreed with the leadership in any venue. The county org lost all of the primaries, all of the petition challenges, and all of the court cases in these matters, Not only did the incumbants stay in, but the county also lost the 34th AD to the people they had forced out 2 years earlier. So the reson for not having an executive board meeting by the Ragusites, was so that they wouldn’t be voted out of power. A meeting was held by a majority of the executive board in a timely manner, and they voted Bart Haggerty in as Chairman of the executive board, the Chairman filed with the NYS BD of Elections in Albany and in NYC as is required within the time alloted. After the paperwork was filed in NYC, someone at the board called the county people who ran in several hours afterward and filed their minutes of a meeting never held, 10 days latter they filed in Albany, well outside the time limits set by law. The bylaws say that the Chairman of the executive board is also the county chairman. but there is no provision that states it can’t be plural.

Bob remember what I said about decrying criminality were none exists, luckily you have no assets, so your pretty safe from civil damage suits. I expect you soon to be on the payroll of the Board of Elections, some one had to fill Steves place, since he’s going to Pakistan to work on seeking a better peace(?) or may be just some other place that won’t be where he is now.

As for the Big Bucks, Bob you have no idea whats been going on all these years, you are not part of that group, your just not trusted. You guys will have to build up your consultants groups, Ballot Consultants, and GSP, and even 360 Consultants, Fuchs has to calm down. You’ll make a lot more money if any elections are actully won by your efforts, so far you’ve won zip. Phil won against Badouvas by threatening to fire all of the poll workers, all 200 of them voted for him, or else. otherwise it still would have been in recounts because it was a dead heat without the soon to be unionized poll workers.

And as for my fantasy world, I belive in people, I trust people, I work on the idea of a handshake as a contract, or taking someone at their word. If someone screws around with me, then I can never trust them again. I follow the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and respect and belong to the Vigil Honor. I am from a family with long standing going back almost 6000 years, I come from scholars, lawyers, Rabbi’s, Authors, Union leaders, College Teachers, business owners, pillars in the community, not the dregs trying to claw their way in. Just because you say its so three times, or it appears in print, or is posted on the net dosen’t mean its true. The Big Lie is just that.

Your leader is Tailgunner Joe. But mine is Bart Haggerty And I don’t care what you accuse me of because Bart will still be my leader, and you’ll still be pushing the big lie.

PS, As for Milano’s petitions, I can’t say what is wrong with them, but your the contact person, so you’ll find out soon enough. just a note, anyone with a state professional license who is a subscribing wittness, and signs for someone unqualified to vote in the primary, the license can be revoked, notaries and C.O.D’s can be charged with Misdemeanors. and Felonies depending on the severity of their ill actions. Dead people and people out of the country can’t sign the petions. I thought that Jimmy Hoffa couln’t write anymore but you guys proved me wrong.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 28, 2010

  113. Mitch, I wonder if the sky is blue on the planet you live on like it is here on earth. Your accounting of the reorg and subsequent events are pure fantasy, or perhaps we should just call them fiction.

I was on the committee that reviewed proxies at the last reorg meeting. Only a handful were disqualified, and with good reason. Most were accepted, even those with the most dubious of signatures. Ragusa won the election handily, I believe with about 58% of the vote, if my memory is working properly. The story you are spinning is done so out of massive amounts of whole cloth.

If you want Bart to be your chairman, that’s fine with me. He can be chairman of the misfits club, or any other organization you guys decide to start. But chairman of the Queens GOP he is not and never will be.

Legally, there can only be ONE chairman of a constituted political committee. Not two. One. Phil Ragusa is the legally recognized chairman of the Queens GOP. Case closed. Regardless of the hysterical rantings of any local leader. Bart’s illegally, unethically filed papers are in the hands of the DA and are being reviewed. Of course, he may wind up paying for other indiscretions in the meantime, making all this relatively moot.

Oh, and thanks for the offer to work at the BOE, but I’ll pass. I’ll stick to what I know best. You stick to what you know best, being a hypocrite. For someone who works on campaigns for pay, you are fast a loose to accuse people who do the same of doing something tawdry or unethical. I know most of the people you target with your snide insinuations and I know them to be good, ethical people who are not exactly getting rich helping people to run for office. But keep making your accusations, I know they must have some resonance on your planet. I assume that is the planet where Bart Haggerty serves as chairman.

As for Milano’s petitions, I have been at the HQ of the Queens GOP often during this process, and saw what came in for Milano, Padavan and Tabone. I know that there is nothing wrong with Milano’s petitions. He will be on the ballot and I believe is likely to win the primary.

By Robert Hornak on Jul 28, 2010

  114. Bob, People who are fighting in Iraq and Afganistan can not sign milano’s petitions, dead people can’t sign, OD people can’t sign, people not registered in the republican party can’t sign. People who live in Florida can’t sign, but they have. Permeated with fraud is what makes my day. I have seen judges raise their fingers and point at subscribing witnesses and call them frauds. Is it so difficult to get real people to sign a petition. If a building has been torn down, and the occupants dispersed to the four winds, how do they sign the petitions. Ask Phil. he is after all YOUR leader.

As for LIz suing people, she was doing it for the Queens Gop, or have you forgotten that little detail, she was defending you guys in court, oops just slipped your mind again. At least my employment is based on real merit and not being a political favor, send my regrds to J.C.P. the next time you see him at work. And Liz is still waiting fior you to straighten out the web site you were paid to put together, the one where the on line payments went directly to her own account and not the campaign’s( just a slight error on your part, and a violation of federal election law to I might add), how about straightening out the Corona Campaign, you remember when you were part of GSP Consulting. Come on where are all of those winning campaigns. You guys would lose running an incumbant Dem in a 100% Democratic District. I’ve been doing this political stuff since 1965, since I was a teen, Union politics, party elections for both sides, campaigns for friends. There is nothing wrong with getting paid for services rendered, but getting paid for no services rendered thats another story. Youz guys don’t have to worry about the Manhattan D.A’s office, you have to worry about the Southern and Eastern Districts. But the way GSP Consulting got paid about 77K on paper in the last couple of years, remember you were on the payroll, Are you on the payroll for Ballot Consulting?, and McJ’s?, and 360?. Consultants can make a good living, if they have a good track record, But the county guys record looks like a derailment. Is a line for a assembly race worth 5k, A line for a Senate race worth 5K, a line for a congressional race worth 10K. After all its all cash, no taxes. Is this all needed to pay Phil’s rent?, why don’t you guys all move to Joe Dubowski’s office, and let Ragusa and Devito earn an income, or better than that to the Sunyside Dentists Office, At least for the most part the coach has an idea and what it should cost, without all the hangers on.

Bart Haggerty is still the Leader of the Queens GOP, he is still my leader, and as it seems so is Phil. Think what you want to think, say what you want to say, do what you want to do, but step over the line, and you’ll be paying me for the next 10 years. After all I have a good attorney with a proven track record. As for Fuch’s, he dosen’t handle pressure very well. And he should try to moderate his meds.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 28, 2010

  116. Ted, was the valve Kosher?, or is eating bacon now cannibalism? By the way the Ragusites don’t seem to be that Kosher, of their horde only a small amount, less than a thimble full have had to say their haf torahs. There are no mishbuka in their household, their attacks on Liz maybe because of their odd inner circle, or the staff physcian, Dr. Mengele. On their behalf 2 of the better kups are Yiddisha Kups, but the naysayers and the mouth frothers are all out there blaming me for JC’s untimely end. All I can say to this, I was born in East NY, I wasn’t there, I have an alibi . I think they should all be fed 2 lbs of Grivennes with brot to sop up leftover schmaltz.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 28, 2010

  117. Mitch that is so funny…..I am sure MOST will not get it…as for the Valve I am not sure how the Cow was slaughtered but my brother Jack was there with my son so I am sure he blessed it since he is the religious (Kosher) member of the family. He is responsible for praying for all of us.

  119. to whom are you asking that question ted?

By LIBERTARIAN on Jul 29, 2010

  120. Libertarian,

To anyone with knowledge of what these payments were for? They seem seriously out of the ordinary and lend support to some of the theories already put on the table as to whether an endorsement of Milano was purchased or given freely? So I am asking anyone who might know as I did not want to come to an incorrect conclusion although the truth seems pretty evident to me.

By Ted Lipsky on Jul 29, 2010

  121. Mitch, is this what you meant in your phone message to me last night about not filling Raquel’s blog with BS? Don’t think for one second you can intimidate me with threats of lawsuits or your insane and factually incorrect assertions and attempt to create associations and make them seem ominous. As I said, when you get paid for working on campaigns, don’t malign other people for doing the same. Your pathetic spec on Milano’s petitions is ore an example of doing nothing for your money than any example you can cite.

For the record, I never put together a website for Liz. I have not the knowledge to do so. I recommended where she could set up taking credit cards online, but did not set up the account for her. Any mistakes or problems are her own. I have no control over her web address/site or access to it or any of her other campaign accounts. So take your BS accusations and shove them you know where. Same for your other sleazy attacks on associations I have with friends who have their own companies, none of which I have ever been on the payroll of. Yes, I did work for almost three years for the Assembly Minority Leaders office, and know that I was there on merit, as well as good recommendations from friends.

You can keep insisting, but Bart is not recognized by any official organization as the Chairman of the Queens GOP. Much to his and your chagrin, he is merely a state committeeman. Then again, maybe there is something to your theory. I’d like to be the Chairman of Microsoft. Perhaps I too can send in some papers to some meaningless gov’t office without any oversight power asserting that I am Chairman of Microsoft and then I’ll be a really powerful guy. Yea, that’s the ticket.

  122. Bob, your true colors have been brought to light. Keep it up, it will look really good in the RJI, I hope the index number is politicaly correct. Froth some more, slaver a bit, drool on the floor. Be the camp police, push my family into the cattle cars and justify your actions. For a guy who grew up in the melting pot of queens you seem to be more of a smoker than a melter. While my uncle was in the woods fighting the Nazi’s, while my father was fighting to make the USA a place where you could have your own agenda to push, what was it in your upbringing that made you feel that the world owes you a living. Entitlement is for those that really earned it, Your not Prince John of Yugoslavia, your not a Romanov, your not even a Latke, but you share some conditions with Latkes.

Watch your blood pressure, calm down, pretty soon you and Fuchs will be in the same ward. Your over reactions are predictable, I like the idea that people from your little group seem to think that a pat on the back, and a wink and a smile will make me forget 20 years of slime and corruption. Some people are honest about what they do, they don’t hide under the cover of darkness, they don’t submit petitions signed by people who are out of the country at the date of the signature, and where out 6 months before and are still in country, just not here. Bob take you specialties and volunteer be all that you can be, be an army of one, show that you support my country, do what your father and grandfather did and fight in a far away place to support life here. Rant a little more, at least some of your friends are honest about being dishonest. Just a note, how many of your brown eyed friends now have blue eyes, and how are those lamp shades holding up.

  123. Ted,

Ballot consulting is a non existant organization with the Address of Ragusa and Devito CPA’s , where he sublets space to His Queens County Organization, its also the same place Milano paid $3000. rent to, and the same place the *envelope* changed hands. If you ask, don’t expect an answer, if you get an answer, don’t expect the truth, and if by chance you get the truth, it may not be the answer that you were expecting, wanted, or thought would come out of the mouth of a reasonable moral, indivdual with a modicum of integrity

Ballot consulting is the organization that did the petitioning for the slew of candidates, but only Milano paid. He is after all the cash cow. MOOOOOOOOLAH

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 29, 2010

  124. Bob,
My objections hold up better than yours, didn’t youz guys learn this last year. From now on I am going to suggest that any Republicans running for office in Queens hire Lois Marbach and Promotional Stratagies to run their campaigns.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 29, 2010

  125. Mitch, you are a real piece of work. Your posts show how a coward can act like a real man in cyber space. Last time you tried spreading your manure, I confronted you face to face and you crumbled. You claimed you were just trying to “get a rise” from someone. I’m at the Queens GOP office tonight. You know where it is. Come by and make your accusations to my face. If you are man enough.

By Robert Hornak on Jul 29, 2010

  126. Sorry I missed you, I was at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservative Dinner, It seems that your whole crew of candidates was also among the missing. This has nothing to do with being man enough, or not man enough. The Pen is mightier than the Sword, and you should beat your swords into plowshares, milk some more cash from the cow and hide behind your furies(not Timothy). By the way, the truth are not accusations. But spreading the manure helps the crops grow, and as for your confrontation, it never happened.

As for my statements about payments, they are all in the BOE and FEC records,, like Phil’s and Nelly’s donations to Charles Rangel, and lots of other Democratic Candidates. The donations in and of themselves seem harmless, ($1,000 each) except they were part of a larger package of donations from another source, where he had maxed out and had to make a larger donation. This has to do with you not being trusted to see the inner workings of your own organization, and for the process of reupping a series of federal grants that the leadership had a vested interest in. You are not part of that leadership and never will be. BTW your signature is illegible.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 29, 2010

  127. As for your coward like statement, I’ll remember that when I look at the thank you letters for rescuing 1500 people from a burning building in Brooklyn not once but twice, evacuating a burning apartment building in Jamaica, before the fire and police department arrived, rescuing people from the wilderness, being involved in the arrest and conviction of over 145 people(including the Son of Sam), working as a auto repo man for 10 years, getting shot at in Brooklyn and Manhattan(had to do with gang activity, not the repo work), enforcing court orders for removal of dangerous people{protective services for adults}( I had to wear a level 4a bulletproof vest with extended protection, a lexan face shield and helmet, use the jaws of life, all while the cops stood behind me)And of course I work in a detention facility where I have constant contact with the miscreants and recididivist of the metrolpolitan area, some day if you keep this up you too could be a guest at one of our facilities. I’m pretty sure that they could make you feel right at home, in dorm 19A in RMSC.(where the pre and post operatives are housed).

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 29, 2010

  128. By the way Bob, Archie the cockroach wrote better prose than you do, buy diving head first onto the keys, one letter at a time. You remind me too much of the Good Soldier Schweik, or maybe even Gregor Samsa.. Has Godot arrived yet?, if not you better keep waiting.

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 29, 2010

  129. By not Buy. Buy is what the candidates do for the line from Hornak’s associates

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 30, 2010

  130. Well you know where to find me Mitch, any time you want to repeat your bile to my face. I am often at the official Queens Republican committee’s office. Be a man don’t hide in your house behind your computer and come make your sleazy innuendos and false accusations to my face. I don’t much care if my prose doesn’t send a tingle up your leg, I am more than capable of standing up to you and your bully tactics using the written word. But only a coward spreads lies like you do, Mitch.

And considering the people you associate with, some of who are very close to going to jail as we speak, you should be the one worried about residing in your place of work.

Buy the line? Really? Did Liz buy the line in 2008? Did Speranza? Did you notice that MOST of the petition collectors were volunteers cultivated by the County Leadership? No I guess you didn’t notice that. Funny that you challenged my signature as illegible. That is a very pathetic challenge and will not be sustained. It is typical of the garbage challenges you use to justify your pay. Yes, your pay, which I guess is a reverse shake down for people desperate to get opposition off the ballot. Except, you aren’t often successful, are you Mitch?

By Robert Hornak on Jul 30, 2010

  131. Oh and funny how you even try to deny when I confronted you at the Reception House last year at a Queens GOP event regarding emails and comments you sent/made to Dan Peterson. You were a coward to my face then and you continue to be a coward now.

By Robert Hornak on Jul 30, 2010

  132. Bob,
I had thought that the information about Liz’s web page had been properly vetted. So I checked with Liz, and she said that I should correct the events in regards Bob’s establishment of the web page in the 2008 election cycle. Her statement should set the record straight. The first generation web page provided by Mr. Hornak, had no provisions for any sort of donations, the second generation had the correct donate page to the proper Campaign Committee account. It took several weeks, the time frame is not really important now, but eventually the page was up and running with the correct information. Liz said Bob was helpful with this process.

Bob, We missed you at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservative Dinner, but for some reason almost your entire slate was missing, were they feeling under the weather, or just ducking service. Calling people cowards is not a good way to win friends and influence people. You and your group are so sure that John and Bart are going to jail, that fraud has been committed, that your filing of complaints, and keeping in touch with friends at the D.A.’s office is going to guarentee this outcome, it only means that you haven’t learned the most important part of dealing with the District Attorneys, everyone is fair game, including the complainant. Maybe this year the District Attorney’s will go after the petition fraud, and those people who were in Iraq and somehow signed the good doctors petitions, their subscribing witnesses may find themselves in civil confinement on Riker’s Island, Nassau County, or the Albany County Jail. And that fabled permeated with fraud statement from the judges may be heard in court again this year, clearly this is something that youz guys should have checked before youz submitted the petitions. Just another note, how is your vacation going, is the sky blue on your planet.

One last note, which I think you may be slightly miffed at, I posted this entire blog on , Urban Elephants, Facebook, The New York Times, The New York Daily News, and The NewYork Post, and I will be posting it on Queens Crap. Keep up your ranting it makes for good press

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 30, 2010

  133. As for buying the line or not, prior to Mayor Bloomberg’s run last year, I don’t think that you though you had a saleable commodity[$50,000 for the line, another $50,000 upon winning, and a Job for AC-until you attacked the Mayor on Urban Elephants, then it was $50,00 only and no jobs for the hungry]. It wasn’t until after Peter, Eric, and Dan’s wins that NE Queens and Eric’s area were valuable items. Somehow it’s The Antiques Road Show for politics. How much is this Democratic area worth to Republicans with visions of sugarplum fairies dancing in their heads. as much as you can get, or so it seems. Bob, I don’t know why you determined that you were the spokesperson, they already have one of those, and he has been remarkedly silent, except for official announcements. after this is over my friends will still be my friends, and those who are not, won’t suddenly become friends. Those who are aligned with evil become evil. Its a strange world that you live in, a world that except for your inner circle, everyone is an enemy, and any actions are justified to those who are not your compainions. Even paranoids have enemies, and not everyone your aligned with is your friend, some would sell you to the highest bidder. But you are valueless(worthless) so for now you’re safe. The enemy of my enemy is my friend(sometimes). Froth a lttle more, it keeps the juices flowing. And where did you park that ZipCar?

    One last thing,

    Good Night and Good Luck

  134. thought not though

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 30, 2010

  135. Bob one last thing until the next last thing, if you are not on a computer, or on a blackberry type device, just how are you making these entries? Hide behind your laptop, or the terminals at Phil’s office. Eat some Latkes, some Kugel, a little Gefilte Fish with white horse raddish, some flanken, and a dab of kasha, have a blintz, a couple of Glatt Kosher hot dogs with mustard and barrel sauerkraut. Have a full sour pickle. Enjoy, learn to cherish all people, not just your inner child. No more tantrums, let other people play in your sandbox. This is within your area of expertise, is it not?

By Mitch Schwadron on Jul 30, 2010

  136. Bob, do you know this guy? I am of the opinion that he was the president before you in the NYYR,Inc, and as you had aptly put, your mentor. I hope that you have learned from the errors of others, and won’t follow him down the same path.

  137. Mitch, you just can’t help making shit up, can you? My mentor is Herb London. I am not the one who associates with criminals. Look to your chairman and his brother for that.

Yes, I agree you should post this everywhere. I think it speaks to your particular brand of insanity rather than mine.

By Robert Hornak on Aug 1, 2010

  138. You seem to be suffering from a memory lapse, but you picked Herb after your buddy went away, after all you couldn’t help and support him now could you? Any way You picked up a better mentor as time went on, an its all right to not remember what youz guyz did when you where is the leadership of this now again respectable organization( after you left of course) I hope that you able leadership with the RLC brings about a new course, and plenty of free workers for GSP, and Ballot Consulting. Do you even know what a Libertarian is? Look, its time for a change, Become a Dem, follow your true colors, move to Greece and help them with their finacial woes, you could be the president in a couple of years, and while your at it take Vince to Malta. He needs a vacation away from here for about 6 months

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 2, 2010

  139. If Herb really knew about the activites of your current affilates, he may not wish to be associated with you. How about Lionel Jeffries instead, he’s more up your alley. Your not a coward, your just a bully. Picking on women like Raquel, and Liz. shame on you. Using your height and stature to try and intimidate people. The Board of Elections is holding a chair for you, you’ll love the warehouse.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 2, 2010

  140. I have been notified by the people at the Board of Elections on my planet, that Liz Berney’s petitions have been substainiated by the Board of Elections and the Ragusa Queens County Republican Party Challenges have not held up. This seems to be a repeat of last years debacle where all of your challenges were thrown out, and all of your candidates in primaries lost. Your record is the same as Bob’s rental cars, ZIP.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 3, 2010

  141. I think that Hornak’s typing days are over, he was seen last night at the Night out against Crime, for the 111 Pct, with Vince Tabone, the Ragusites candidate for the 26th Ad. They’re challenges at the board of elections against Robert Speranza where thrown out, the Bd of Elections supported Mr. Speranza’s petitions, over their objections. Next comes court, were they will lose again, Its Zip all over again.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 4, 2010

  142. Mitch Schwadron is on Liz Berney’s payroll, and i also found out that Dr. Milano’s petitions have been certified by the NYS Board of Elections.(both the republican and conservative ones)

lastly, mitch is a tool of liz berney and he is also infatuated with her. in politics love and money should be separated because money and infatuation clouds judgement.

By the truth on Aug 7, 2010

  143. Its seems that you have not been keeping up on your falandering electeds. Or the people drawn to people who claim power without actulaly having any. As for being on Li’z payroll, the last time I was paid by Liz’s campaign was in 2008. Here is a partial rundown of the campiagns or political entities that owe me money, and what I have made or donated as inkind contributions of any significant amount. These figures are off the top of my head, as it seems is most of my hair too. 1995- Queens Republican Victory Fund, Phil Ragusa Treasurer $18,000.00 Never paid, Mike Abel for City Council[ 1991] $500.00 (as a driver for for 8 months), John Ottulich for Assembly- treasurer No payments, Dennis Saffran for City Council-Treasurer, no payments, Richard Haffey for State Committee no payments, Joseph Kasper for judge -treasurer-no payments(Multiple committees) Mike Duvalle for Assembly-treasurer-multiple committees-no payments, Ram Johda For Council,Assembly treasurer-no payments, Mike Mossa for City Council Treasurer-expense reimbursements $4,250. including petiton challenge expenses($750) 8 hours a day plus court appearences from April to November, plus other appearances until following summer, Bodouvas for Council, Assembly, State Committee-treasurer and petition Challenges $500, Work with Mike Neighbauer defending and challenging Independance Party petitions-billed $1,400 for 200 hours work, bill still not paid .Kavadas for council billed $2500, for petiton and other expenses-collected $250 so far. Schwartz for Boro President-treasurer(2nd half) no billing, Halloran for Council Billed $500. for challenges to Kim’s Independance party OTB-petition thrown out-still not paid, $1637. in kind contribution for repairing all of the locks in the office including work on the bank vault Liz berney 2008 campaign challenging Policarpio’s Republican petitons – policarpio off the ballot-paid about $350.00, Liz Berney’s 2010 campaign-Milano petition challenges $0. Just an aside, youz guys said that Liz’s petitons had only 300 valid signatures- But she’s on the ballot with almost 1700 signatures, she submitted about 1900. You used the same 5 objections on every line in her petition NR-NE-WA-Ills-OD, with some SAP’s
    thrown in for good measure

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 8, 2010

  144. mitch, funny how you stopped ranting on about the Milano petitions when you were shown the facts. also, you didnt even deny you infatuation with liz berney.

By the truth on Aug 8, 2010

  145. Yes, but the Milano petitions are in court, and he might not survive the court challenges, so is this the 360 guy, or the Douglas Manor resident who hides behind the truth, Phil Ragusa is not the Chairman, and Vinny will not fire the Board of Elections employees who are the republicans. Even though they have been told that anyone who opposes the Chairman(Pretend) is an agent of the Democrats out to destroy the Republicans. Phil Used to be a Democrat, Milano is a Democrat, others who have risen to power within our party, and the other smaller parties , also used to be Democrats. A lot of the democrats used to be Republicans. Its not like its a shameful thing, one way or another. Gee VJT used to like Jamaican Girls- it must be a south queens type of thing. So the 360 guy wants to be my friend, as does peterson, I hope he can remember the numbers on the sheet he was looking at, its the same numbers he has on his sheet. So if the 360 guy is my friend, does that mean he’s being threatened with firing from the Board? Bring back secret agent man. I ask for civil service status for all board employees, pull them out of the work by whim of the local leadership. It causes them to lose their impartiality, and tilt the results of the clerks reports. The threat of firing will do that to most peoples integrity.

Milano’s petitions survived the specs at the board because there weren’t any, and RH’s signature is still Illegible. Your all a bunch of miscreants in suits. Spending your city time on Ebay, running business’s from the city’s computers, using the phone service and assets of the city to further your dreams of sugar plum fairies dancing in your heads. does your massage have a happy ending, or are you all just milking the system and each other for feelings of power and authority. If you don’t like what I’m saying, my answer is “Tough Darts Buddy”.

Also in closing, Milano’s petitions are about 60% fraud, thanks to Ballot Consulting( way to go boob)That means that Tabone’s, and Tim Furey, and even Frank’s suffer the same fate. Did Debbie go through with her court case against Avella? or is that just a fleeting look at winning one for the gipper. See you in the funny papers.

Oh, just one last thing, Liz is a friend of mine, does the truth have any of those, or is he still looking lovingly at farm animals, his hip boots and the pond. (if you need an explanation of this I refer you to Kraft-Ebbing)

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 8, 2010

  146. mitch, i just checked for evidence of your claims, and everything you said was false. why is you hate the republican party?

By LIBERTARIAN on Aug 8, 2010

  147. Which claims are you refering to? I don’t hate the Republican Party, I dislike some of the practices that people involved with it may do, and they justify these actions because of a sense of empowerment. Which is interesting becuse unless they have real followers there is no power implied or accepted. Why don’t you go rent a zip car and go cruising for a while.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 8, 2010

  148. Just a quick thank you to Mitch, Robert and Libertarian for reading and commenting on “Backing Liz Berney Without Hesitation”. I can’t say I agree with what all of you are saying concerning this race, and as you all know, I have set forth my position in support of LIz Berney for Congress which I stand by.

Just for the record. I support Bart Haggerty 100% in his endeavors to grow the Republican Party. I think Bart has a following for a reason and speaks for a good number of Republicans in Queens.

I also am 100% behind Vince Tabone in his race for NYS Assembly. I think he will be a strong voice of sanity in Albany. I can’t wait to see him get there.

While Bart and Vince might be on opposite sides of the primary field and Queens politics, they are both well respected members of the community and highly regarded by me.

By Raquel on Aug 8, 2010

  149. the claims about dr. milano’s petitions and i have noticed when you disagree with someone you just insult them, kinda reminds me of a liberal.

By LIBERTARIAN on Aug 8, 2010

  150. raquel,
who is the official and only chairman of the queens republican party?

By LIBERTARIAN on Aug 8, 2010

  151. Libertarian — I’ll agree that Ragusa is the official chair of Queens Republican Party, but in all fairness to those Queens Republicans who officially back Bart Haggerty, I cannot say Ragusa is the Only Chair.

By Raquel on Aug 8, 2010

  152. but raquel, a lot of people officialy backed john McCain, so i cannot say obama is the only president.

By LIBERTARIAN on Aug 9, 2010

  153. Libertarian, the difference is that Bart Haggerty has a real organization in Queens County, operating and involved for years. Bart Haggerty is no stranger to Republicans in Queens.

I believe a valid complaint was lodged to show an unfair election of the Queens County Chair. Those who agree that, if the process was conducted properly, Bart Haggerty would be the official chair, continue to support Haggerty and look to him for advice. Those individuals, in my eyes, show courage by backing a leader they trust, and a leader they believe to be the true victor.

By Raquel on Aug 9, 2010

  154. Bart Haggerty is My Chairman, Liz Berney is My Friend, and the only republican running for Congress in the 5th Congressional district, As of at least tommorow Vince has a primary, which he may lose. Dr. Milano’s forged petitions are in court in Albany, good luck with those fictions of creative writing, and artistic copying. Dead people can’t sign petitions, people overseas can’t sign petitions, Democrats and out of the district people can’t sign petitons, and unqualified people can’t be subscribing witnesses. Dates are very important, leave them out and the names don’t count.

Accuse me all you want, call me names, make fun of my friends, send nasty letters to the world, I don’t really care, because Bart Haggerty is the only truly elected chairman of the Republican Party in Queens, and Liz is still my friend, so is Randie Rosen, so is Joan Vogt, and Marie Warhola, And lets not forget Mike Abel sr., Denny Farrel, and David N. Dinkins. And of course my Great Grandfather Rebbe Sholom Ben Mordichai Schwadron the Marshalam Hacohen. Psshaw on you all, A great big bunch of Nebishes who take themselves too seriously. Have a blintz

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 9, 2010

  155. Hey Mitch, you forgot to mention me in the *friend* category!!

By Raquel on Aug 9, 2010

  156. hey mitch,
Do you support Pro-Abortion and Pro-earmark candidate Liz, who assaults people and is a radical socialist? Whay are you dragging Raquel into this, she is an honest pro-life, smaller governement person. Stop invalidating Raquel’s reputation and Senator Padavan’s reputation. You need to pray that GOD forgives you for attacking people you don’t know. Stop destroying Raquel’s Blog, you are gragging her into something she is not knowledgable about because you are feeding lies conjured up by Liz Berney who had 8% of Republicans cross over and vote for Ackerman. A vote for Berney is a vote for ABORTION and a vote for Ackerman. Leave Raquel out of this she still has a good reputation.

By frank on Aug 9, 2010

  157. Raquel is my friend too! Liz never assaulted anyone, ask Darryl Fox the supossed victim, he will tell you that it never happened, Ask Robert Hornak, he might tell you it never happened, ask Erban Hefalumps, and they too may tell you it was a contrived fiction. Liz is a registered republican, and G-D has forgiven me because I am one of the Chosen People. But lets be frank, because it seems that you can’t be. Liz had over 45,000 votes the last time around, I think the third highest republican votes in the state of ny for a non incumbant. Remember the Obama Money and landslide, Ackerman got the lowest amount of votes for an incumbant dem congress person in ny state about 105,000. And in seeing that you are a Milano supporter, you shouldn’t be talking about republicans when your guy is a democrat, who paid the QC ragusites 13K for the line(money to the org and its consultants at the same address). Frank, think about your quality of life any go play by your self for a while, and join with the truth and his love of farm animals, hip boots and a pond. (look it up in Kraft-Ebbing) I can insult you properly becuase you won’t identify yourself, hiding behind made up names, your right there with Hornak’s accusations of me being a coward. If you have watched any Woody Allen Movies, then you’ll know that you can’t put lipstick on a sheep, And no I don’t know from personal expierance. Have a Blintz, and a Latke, and some luchen kugel

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 10, 2010

  158. you can insult me properly? wow you must be a big man because you can write things on the internet. also, GOD forgives everyone AND you can not be one of the chosen people because you support abortion, THE CHOSEN PEOPLE DO NOT SUPPORT KILLING THE UNBORN. lastly you are not one of the chosen people anymore because you support abortion and you fail to see that GOD forgives everyone regardless of race, sex, or religion.

By frank on Aug 10, 2010

  159. Oh my god, their coming to redact my BRIS. G-D forgives everyone except for me?, Are you on a watch list or something? Does the FBI follow you around and take pictures of you and your associates. Have you bought any fertilizer and kerosene in large amounts recently?, have you rented a truck with credit cards not your own? I never said I supported abortion. I have never suggested anyone get one, but there are people running around whose parents should have been more selective in their conception, and they may be prime candidates for rehab and social re-education. Frank- are you one of those people? By the way, your prose resembles the prose generated by the same people who have lashed out at Liz, because she didn’t pay them $13,000 dollars. Imagine, those people saying that the Priest at St Jeosephats committed election fraud, or the Nun’s at St Lukes were forgers, I can see that the good Doctor won’t be seated in the congress anytime soon, just like the 26th ad will be won by an Itailan Democrat……. Long live the freedoms that are writen into our constitution, and the rights of the people voted by the supreme court, but this argument is not about Roe Vs Wade, its about Raquel’s endorsement of Liz. go pound some sand and stay with the facts.. And by the way, you are a Zdrull, a Putz, someone without a good bone in their body, your bones are mostly in your head..

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 10, 2010

  160. you just insult people, you don’t use facts. but i guess you want to play by your rules so….you are a TOOL of liz, you did not deny that you support abortion, you simply said things around the subject, either way if im a zdrull then you are an idiot and maybe you should consider changing the first letter of your first name to a B

By frank on Aug 10, 2010

  161. Frank, such a putz. , and also a mischkeit, and an umbriago, and momsir, and even yaya and meds mama wouldn’t hold you. Even your lap dog isn’t friendly. Oh woe is your very being..booo hoo. change your first letter to a c, becuase that’s what you are. Frank get the point. Are you a shareholder in Planned parenthood? Do you hand out rubbers from the gmho to high school students. What is your problem, and no its not me, or Liz. Doug Prescott ran on the RTL, as did Thomas Ognibenne, both of whom I count as friends. I have friends who wouldn’t be here if there parents had decided that abortion was the better way. Why decide that life has a price, that its a decision with out moral or ethical values. I for one am not prepared to make those decisions. But in your case life for you was misconception, and still is. get real, get a life, ask Bob for better insults, or hire 360 to do it for you..yutz, putz, schmuck, eat some farfel, and some matzo brie.

  162. God is waiting for you FRANK, ask him he might answer.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 11, 2010

  163. maybe you would have better insults if they were in english, we are in america, we speak and type in english. also you still did not answer the question.
ARE YOU PRO-CHOICE? and do not tell me Liz is not there is a recording of her explaining it. you are a tool, pig, good for nothing, and you probably should have been aborted.

By frank on Aug 11, 2010

  164. Frank, you are still ill concieved, and last time I looked I didn’t have a squiggly tail and wasn’t traffe. I am good for something, you are after all responding. something you haven’t done in years. But I haven’t heard anyone called a tool in a long time, I work with tools, I am a skilled Master Craftsman, I would never consider you to even be a client. Go bang you head into your Herman Miller desk and dividers, staple your fingers to your desk, I am not running for office, my views are not for the public, but for the record, in large metropolitan areas, Abortion isn’t a moral issue, it’s a money issue, costs and hospitalization, welfare and medical care, rape victims and the morally careless take the easy way out. Generations built on gestational birth control. If the ruling bodies say no to abortion, the courts over ride them, if the states defund the clinics, the courts reinstate the funds. Its good to fight the good fight, but much better to win. G-D is watching, you especialy. Drive safely, watch out for white pick ups. And slow down at all corners, we can’t have you become a ward of the state now can we?

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 11, 2010

  165. Frank- you are a goober schmoocher, an egg sucker, a pucker button, a suck up, and as always, a CRANK

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 11, 2010

  166. you just proved you are pro-choice…….

By frank on Aug 11, 2010

  167. You just proved that you are a nimcompoop, and it’s really too bad, because your actions justify at least one procedure, but because its years too late it would be euthanasia. You’ll understand, because you don’t have a choice. Its like you went to a diner and there was only one thing on the menu, and you didn’t like it, but you were hungry. You made your choice, now live with it, Crank.

I never said I wasn’t, but I never said I was. Let me know how this turns out after you give birth to your first child.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 11, 2010

  168. you are very funny, i already have children. children are too good for you, you probably don’t have children because you are a good for nothing.

By frank on Aug 12, 2010

  169. Come on CRANK, did you have the children?, or did someone else go through the pangs?. Men should not decide what’s best for women, one way or the other. And I have always been good, without the need for remuneration. Do you still have your sponge rubber nose?, or has the clown guild revoked your membership? Is that the sound of one hand clapping? it must be for you. Your fans await.

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 12, 2010

  170. so you do admit you are pro-choice.

By frank on Aug 12, 2010

  171. Yes or no, do you still beat your wife?

Yes or no, are you still a member of the communist party?

read what I type- Crank, you are a pucker button, a buffoon, a cause that is neither lost, nor viable. Stop playing by yourself.

I have said that I do not have the right to tell a woman what to do, she is her own woman. I can take the official republican view, or the conservative view, but in this case I take no view. In your case the procedure should have been retro active. Now go bother some one else, froth a little, have some fun. By the way do you use insecticides at home?

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 12, 2010

  172. i never beat my wife.
i was never a member of the commy party.
you are still a little piggy

By frank on Aug 13, 2010

  173. frank and Mitch – I appreciate all your comments on this thread! You are both welcome at my blog any time! At this point, however, the discussion is way off topic and I thank you in advance from refraining from further comment. I think all of your points have been made. Thanks again!!

  174. Thanks for the opportunity, and Frank, have a nice life but you still didn’t answer the questions—OINK.. Signing off

By Mitch Schwadron on Aug 13, 2010

  175. sorry, Raquel.

By frank on Aug 13, 2010

  176. So the gun grabbing baby killing nevice wants to MANDATE our fuels? Aqua Volte! What part of COnstitutinonl ANARCHY don’t she ‘dustand? That’s why she never got the Conservative nod either year.

By Tucker Loechsmann on Sep 12, 2010

  177. what in the world is a nevice?

Liz just wants to make new cars capable of using flex fuels. This means that you outfit cars so that you can have a CHOICE of which fuel you want to use, so you don’t have to use gasoline every time. It’s a great idea.
What’s they problem with that, Tucker?

By sue on Sep 14, 2010

  178. Tucker, spell czech only works if you know what the words mean. Anyway, the good doctor got his monies worth. Gary goes on again for another term, and the Party shows its true leanings.
