According to a Daily News report, Republican Fran Becker, candidate for U.S. Congress, is “surging” in the polls to unseat 7- term incumbent Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (NY-4).  No surprise here.  As Congresswoman, McCarthy has proven to be a spokesperson for the Obama, Pelosi agenda; whereas, as Nassau County Legislator, Fran Becker has proven to be a spokesperson for Nassau County.

Less than two months ago, the Cook Political Report found District 4 a “solid” win for McCarthy in the November 2 election, today has the race within six points.  On September 20 the National Republican Congressional Committee announced Fran Becker an “On the Radar” candidate, another shift in the right direction.  In fact, the Daily News reports that “internal Democrat polls show McCarthy with a slight lead.”  Fran Becker for U.S. Congress – surging indeed!

Fran Becker has what it takes to win

“A groundswell of support continues to grow.  Volunteer efforts are providing the extra edge that will carry us through to victory on Election Day,” says Fran during an interview this week.

Fran Becker discusses a weakening American economy:

“The President and a far reaching Congress has taken America in the wrong direction.  Spending trillions of dollars on a stimulus package that has not created one job for the Nation, and certainly not one job for Nassau County, is breathtakingly dangerous.”

“As Congressmen I would work to get the federal government out of the way.  A tax and over- regulatory environment in Washington D.C. paralyzes the market just when business needs reassurance to invest.  Without an option for business owners to get a return on their investment, the economy cannot flourish, and jobs cannot be created.  Unleashing the free market will create jobs.”

Carolyn McCarthy is extreme

McCarthy has a long history of votes in the halls of Congress that show how out of touch she really is with Nassau County constituents.  District 4 is comprised of approximately 175,000 registered Democrats, 155,000 registered Republicans, 12,000 registered Independents and 84,000 registered “Blanks”.

This is a recipe for an independent minded vote on November 2 — that has rejected far left policies long ago — and are ready to give Republican Fran Becker a go.   And why should they not?  Take a peek at the extreme way McCarthy votes (Source: ontheissues.org):

Budget – economy – energy:

Voted YES on additional $825 billion for economic recovery package. (Jan 2009)

Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler. (Dec 2008)

Voted YES on $60B stimulus package for jobs, infrastructure, & energy. (Sep 2008)

Voted YES on keeping moratorium on drilling for oil offshore. (Jun 2006)

Voted YES on prohibiting oil drilling & development in ANWR. (Aug 2001)

Voted YES on starting implementation of Kyoto Protocol. (Jun 2000)

Abortion – civil rights – education:

Voted NO on making it a crime to harm a fetus during another crime. (Feb 2004)

Voted NO on banning partial-birth abortions. (Apr 2000)

Voted NO on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance. (Sep 2004)

Voted NO on treating religious organizations equally for tax breaks. (Jul 2001)

Voted NO on vouchers for private & parochial schools. (Nov 1997)

Fran Becker for U.S. Congress

The far left policies of the Obama, Pelosi agenda have hurt economic and social structure in America, most experts agree.  It is a philosophy that says the federal government “knows better than you,” when in reality it never does.  It is precisely this “big brother” failing mentality that has enraged a good portion of the electorate, and precisely why Fran Becker is poised to win.

With fervent prayers of support and a heap of good wishes, I have a message for Fran Becker and the voters in District 4:  Beat her!

  2. Why are Rep McCarthy’s vote being labeled as extreme? They seem to me they are more in line with the Democratic party? I guess we are just falling in line with naming everything liberal extreme to scare the people up.
McCarthy has always represented me well. I hope she continues that trend in when re-elected tomorrow night?
