In Defense of Karl Rove

Have any of you seen Karl Rove, former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bush, on FOX news lately?  He is a clever guy, isn’t he?  Indeed, quite brilliant in my eyes which make s me wonder why his name has such negative connotations, especially in the more liberal newspapers like the NY or LA Times.

It seems the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee is trying to obtain information from Mr. Rove concerning the firing of several U.S. Attorneys by the President.  Now, the way I understand it, the President has the right to fire any U.S. attorney.  (This isn’t the teachers union!)  In fact, Bill Clinton fired I think the figure is 94, U.S. attorneys and Mr. Clinton’s staff was not subjected to any subpoenas.  As they shouldn’t have been.

So, what does Mr. Rove know that the Committee Members want him to repeat under oath?  Absolutely nothing.  Do the House members think that Mr. Rove will assert that the President fired some of the U.S. attorneys because he does not agree with their political philosophy?  No.  Are they being barraged with phone calls and emails by their respective constituencies wondering what Mr. Rove knows?  Of course not.  If the President wants to fire 500 U.S. attorneys, it IS his right to do so.  I will go so far as to say that if President Bush fired all of the U.S. attorneys because they disagree with his political philosophy, so what?

Let me remind the American public that WE voted for President Bush and WE respect the right of the President to make an executive decision.  That’s his job.  If the American public wants a new President, guess what?  We have that opportunity every four years.  It’s called America, not Russia.

These shilling Democratic House members are wasting their time by rehashing the same nonsense to try and embarrass our great president.  These are the same representatives that blame the President for everything gone wrong.  They want us voters to think that the President caused global warming, Katrina, AIDS, ect. ect., all in an effort to elect more Democrats, so their political philosophy can be advanced.  Isn’t anyone out there as annoyed by the Democrats, than me?  Seriously, how can anyone with a reasoning brain blame the President for Katrina?

Mr. Rove has offered to answer questions posed by the Committee to get to the bottom of whatever it is they want from Mr. Rove, but the Committee has rejected Mr. Rove’s offer.  Why?  Because an informal question and answer session will NOT embarrass the President.  It is Rep. John Conyers, a Michigan Democrat, and Rep. Linda Sanchez, a California Democrat that are pursuing Mr. Rove.  Please, if either of these Democrats are YOUR representative, by all means, contact them, and ask them to concentrate on keeping their own jobs of working for the PEOPLE, and stop wasting your tax payer dollars on attempting to embarrass the President.

Kudos to you, Mr. Rove, you are one of my heroes!

  1. “So, what does Mr. Rove know that the Committee Members want him to repeat under oath? Absolutely nothing.”

If that were true, he’d certainly testify.

Karl Rove doesn’t have the right to invoke Executive Privilege. He is not above the law.
By the end of the month, he will rightfully be held in contempt of court.

He is a hero of yours?

Have you totally forgot his tactics in 2000? Having pollsters make calls asking voters if they would still vote for McCain if they knew “he fathered an illegitimate black child”?

This is a hero of yours?

  2. Yes, he is a hero of mine because he’s a great advocate of the same principles that I adhere to personally, socially and politically. I’m a conservative at heart and so is he.

Here’s a link to an article I read this morning that explains the legalities of Mr. Rove’s refusal to testify before the House Committee.

As to your claim that Rove told voters some dumb lie about McCain is simply ridiculous (I’d like to see proof of that). Besides, Mr. Rove is way too smart to do something that stupid.

  3. Karl is an advertising executive, not a conservative.

  4. I don’t think you know what a conservative is.

  5. I am a conservative.

I believe in a limited government that taxes and spends as little as possible.

    I believe in strong defense.

I believe that those in American political office need to put the needs of America first.

I believe that a capitalist market economy provides the best opportunity for citizens to work hard and succeed.

I believe the United States of America is the best nation, in terms of freedom, opportunity, and anything else you care to name, ever to grace the face of the earth.

I believe the bill of rights should be respected. All of it. The 1st, the 2nd… all of it.

    I am a conservative.

I do not believe Karl Rove is. I believe Karl just cares about winning, and never mind the methods or the goals.

  6. Maybe Karl Rove agrees with you, and you just don’t know it. Who knows?

  7. The evidence suggests otherwise to me.

He is unquestionably a highly skilled (if also highly unethical) political strategist.

But the president he helped elect twice has done more to erode the concept of limited government than any before him in my view. He has certainly increased domestic discretionary spending more than any president in the past and increased the national debt more than any president in the past.
